Student interns may also see a portion of their clients via tele-therapy if they have a private and professional space within their home/residence. Cornerstone offers unpaid practicum and internship opportunities at three different start dates throughout the year: the fall (August), spring (January), and summer (May) semesters. Although interns are not directly compensated for direct client services, they are given access to and provided with multiple benefits, such as: paid supervision, beautiful and professional office space for seeing clients, marketing, administrative and billing support, caseload management and strategy support, malpractice insurance, weekly trainings, consultation with licensed therapists who represent a variety of specialties/modalities, a robust resource library, and a variety of potential clientele demographics. PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS/EXPECTATIONS All practicum/intern students must be enrolled in a Master's Level mental health counseling or marriage and family therapy program and registered in a practicum/internship class with their school. Cornerstone works with a variety of schools and programs, though schools that are CACREP are preferred. Practicum/internship students must utilize their personal laptops/computers. Though iPads or other tablets may be used, our systems work best on laptops. Being punctual, reliable, and timely is a must when managing practicum/internship, in addition to other school requirements and personal life! Weekly Schedule Requirements: Group Supervision Wednesdays 9-11AM MDT / 11AM-1PM EDT All Cornerstone employees and students are required to attend this weekly meeting. Meetings on the first Wednesday of every month are held in person at your office location; all other Wednesdays these meetings are online. These meetings are required and typically held online. A regular weekly meeting time will be determined when your program begins. Internship Group Meeting (optional) Tuesdays 10-11AM MDT / 11AM-12PM EDT This weekly meeting is optional. Practicum Students (first semester) In addition to the above-stated meetings, practicum students will be required to have 7 hours of schedule availability in their schedule for holding client sessions, which average out to 3-5 client hours/week. Weeknight/Weekend Availability All practicum and internship students must have at least one weeknight or Saturday block of availability open in their schedule. APPLICATION PROCESS and DEADLINES: Cornerstone's internship program is highly competitive. Though the number of interns we onboard from semester to semester varies, we typically only have 4-8 spots available each semester. We recommend that you submit your application early, as our internship spots are often filled before the application deadline. All applications must agree to Cornerstone's Statement of Faith. Applicants must review the practicum/internship description for program expectations and requirements. Submit your application and resume. Applications will be reviewed on a first come first serve basis and interviews will be coordinated when the team is ready to begin the interview process. We're making an investment in the next generation of veterinary doctors! As part of the professional veterinary curriculum, colleges encourage off-campus educational experiences in practices outside of the teaching hospital. Practical experience in a well-run and contemporary practice can be a valuable component of your veterinary education, preparing you to deliver better care after graduation. Our program is dedicated to contributing to your practice-readiness and to help you hit the ground running after graduation. Our program structure: Our externships are flexible-they can range from two to eight weeks during the year, according to your college curriculum - but are typically two or three weeks in length. Your schedule will include days, evenings and weekends. Our externship rotations are designed to allow students, under veterinary supervision, to practice the problem-solving, technical and communication skills that they have acquired during their clinical preparation. Externs are given the opportunity to work alongside our veterinary team and are encouraged to participate in all aspects of patient care. A stipend of $250 per week will be provided. Under the supervision of your mentor doctor you will gather histories, perform physical examinations, develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans, scrub in to surgery, assist in the management of medical cases, provide wellness care, develop your client communication skills, polish your technical skills and produce appropriate medical records (SOAPs) within the time limits of daily practice. Who we're looking for: Extern students are expected to be enthusiastic and effective participants in our patient care activities, upholding the professional and ethical standards of our practice. Students participating in the externship program are suggested to review the Veterinary Practice Act in regard to the scope of duties that may be performed, and to be familiar with the type and degree of veterinary supervision that is required. These should be followed carefully in order to protect both yourself and our practice. As a veterinary student extern, we expect you to dress and behave in a professional manner and to meet the expectations that we have of all team members as outlined in our employee handbook. You will be assigned a mentor and work on the learning objectives as defined by your college program or to meet your specific goals. At the end of the externship your mentor will provide a written evaluation of your performance as required by your college program. We look forward to working with you!
