This Role: You will work closely with the owner, front desk staff, aides, other interns, physical therapists, and other team members, you will be mentored in how to manage a medical office. This internship is a commitment of 180 hours/12 weeks whichever comes first. There is opportunity to be hired long-term after the internship is over if a position is available. This internship is offered on a rolling status. Positions are immediately available, it is not just a summer internship.

Job duties under the mentorship and supervision:
Assists with daily operations and tasks and also in evaluating current and proposed systems and procedures. Recommends changes when necessary and assists in the implementation of new processes.
Meet with the service providers (physical therapists, and the owner of the clinic) weekly regarding any office issues and/or new ideas and suggestions to ensure office growth and financial viability.
Maintain computer systems by working closely with IT staff.
Maintain inventory of required supplies and ensure availability of supplies to the office by ordering new supplies before levels are critically low.
Implement and administer policies and best practices to streamline processes and work with the owner and other team members to ensure compliance.
Ensure that client/new client inquiries are responded to by team members within 24 hours.
Manage the schedule - audit for double bookings and make sure every patient who has a plan of care is scheduled out for their plan of care.
Assist the front office to ensure that clients are charged for services so that revenue is maximized.
Assist the owner in ensuring that the company complies with State, County and Federal regulatory bodies.
Scrutinize expenses and suggest alternatives to improve financial efficiency.
Input revenue, patient encounters, and the number of leads into a document used to track this data so the owner can make informed business decisions.
Opportunity for Advancement:
There is an opportunity to advance to become an Assistant Office Manager and ultimately the Lead Office Manager - the key point of contact for problem-solving with systems or personnel, doing regular performance reviews for team members, managing recruitment, and overseeing the operations of the clinic while the owner is absent. The ideal candidate would be interested in taking over these responsibilities in the future either with our company or another company in the future. Currently, the owner is on-site nearly every day, working as the lead therapist in the practice.
Qualifications:
Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Business Administration or Business related degree at an accredited institution with a graduation date of 2025 for 2026.
3.5 GPA or higher

The MSW Internship will offer participants the opportunity to to work in a professional setting to develop and demonstrate skills in social work, to integrate the theories and practices learned in and out of the classroom, to develop an understanding of the diversity of a community population and the role of diversity in social work practice. This role will aid in supporting frontline staff in day to day operations, and will also receive a caseload of members working towards a variety of goals. This position is an integral part of case management services at SPY.
The first half of the internship will focus on developing skills in case management, documentation, assessments, and working in a high pace Access Center. The 2nd half of the internship will continue in this trajectory, but will also focus on further developing clinical skills, providing interns with an opportunity to conduct 1:1 therapy services to a small caseload, help plan and facilitate therapy groups, and participate in various training sessions. Throughout the program, interns will receive one-on-one support from Field Instructor, and on-going support from Clinical Supervisor, Health and Wellness Therapists, as well as group-based professional development classes.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Participate in SPY's orientation and in-service training programs for professional staff and volunteers as needed
Attend Clinical Department team meetings and group supervision
Run Front Desk operations on a rotation basis ensuring members are connected with needed programs and services
Under Supervision of Field Instructor, conduct intakes, assess needs, and refer new youth to pertinent services/programs such as housing, mental health, benefits, education, and employment as needed
Assist in following up for referrals for services and collecting required paperwork (including follow up calls)
Help plan and co-facilitate-related workshops/trainings for youth and community members.
Under Supervision of Field Instructor, establish treatment goals and revise counseling interventions as indicated. Evaluate member/family response to psychosocial interventions; identify obstacles and assist in understanding goals of intervention, documenting all services in Civicore and HMIS
Co-facilitate group therapy sessions with the Health & Wellness Therapist
Participate in one hour (minimum supervision)

BACKGROUND YOU'LL NEED:
Must be currently attending a university or college while and enrolled in an accredited MSW program. This is a requirement.
Must have a reliable method of communication.
Must have a valid Driver's License and/or State ID. This is a requirement.
Willing to complete a live scan (background check) and TB Test.
Is punctual and organized.
Able to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities and sexual orientations in a multicultural environment.
Willingness to work with folks of diverse experiences and backgrounds
Can utilize a harm reduction, trauma- informed approach when working with young people
Willing to accept a variety of tasks to support the function and services provided at the Access Center and other SPY locations
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Changes in the environment, such as the office or outdoors.
Physical effort/lifting, such as sedentary- up to 15-20 pounds at times.

Reporting to the Clinical Director, the Intensive Services Therapist / Intern provide services within our intensive services program to include: assigned groups, individual and family services, etc. All services provided at our treatment program located in the Laguna, CA area.
Responsibilities may include:
Effectively engages clients with mental health issues and establishes proper therapeutic relationships..
Evaluations, Treatment planning,Discharge planning and reviews of review of continuing care plans (treatment plan updates).
Provides intensive services with the following modalities: Individual, Group and Family Therapies.
Will design and operate highly specialized groups services as may be required by patients and as requested by Director.
Qualifications
Basic Education and Experience Required:
A minimum of a Master's Degree from an accredited or state approved graduate school in psychology, social work, counseling, or marriage family therapy.
Licensed as a Clinical/Counseling Psychologist, Professional Counselor, Clinical Social Worker or Marriage and Family Therapist or possessing requisite regtration as an Intern.
Minimum of 3 years experience in an acute care (or similar) environment with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI).
Solid understanding of psychopathology and the ability to effectively utilize a wide range of therapeutic approaches in the amelioration of patients symptoms.
Excellent grasp of sound clinical documentation
Experience with evidence/science based programming and ability to effectively develop and implement treatment plans for the aforementioned polulation.
Experience in and with Applied Behavior Modification and measurable Cognitive Behavioral approaches - Preferred
Experience in and with trauma and preference fo individuals with related certifications and training
Comfortable with formal assessment and exposure to objective measures and testing desireable.
If in personal recovery, a minimum of 2 years clean and sober.
