The Urban Youth Intern is responsible for providing practical experiences that enhance skill development and foster social interactions, essential for workplace readiness. These activities allow individuals to practice teamwork, communication, and problem-solving in real-world settings. Additionally, successful participation can boost self-esteem and confidence, making individuals more prepared for employment through volunteerism. The Urban Youth Intern must maintain a supportive and encouraging demeanor to foster a positive communication environment. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Be able to be on time and present for the entirety of scheduled shifts. 2. Assist and participate in community activity groups (social and volunteering). 3. Must focus on the safety of the individuals during pick-ups, drop-offs, and activities. To minimize the risk of falls, assist individuals in and out of the van. 4. Assist on watching the individuals while out in the community to ensure their safety. (Eyes On Approach) 5. Understanding cognitive disabilities and their implications for the individual's daily life functions and comprehension. Being patient and assist during explaining instructions to individuals and be willing to repeat instructions when necessary. 6. Being flexible, willing, and understanding of the need to change daily groups, volunteering sites, and van assignments. 7. Assisting on executing daily tasks such as completing paperwork thoroughly. 8. Assist in developing community-based activities to enhance skills and confidence.
