    Under the direction of the Lead Program Quality Coach, the Paraeducator will be deployed to a center to support children's learning by providing individualized or group classroom support. This position is also responsible to assist with establishing and maintaining safe learning environments, implementation of Child Success Plans, IFSP's, and IEP's. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in ensuring children are properly supported with social-emotional skill development and or behavioral interventions by implementing Teaching Pyramid Strategies as directed. Guide children and provide appropriate behavioral modeling in a variety of areas to support the children's safe and full participation in class activities. Assist children toward greater self-reliance, fostering independence in all learning environments. Assist, calm, and deescalate children when demonstrating unsafe behavior. Assist with Behavior Observation Reports as needed. Assist in the supervision and monitoring of children during indoor and outdoor play. Support teachers in accessing resources to promote an inclusive classroom. Maintain confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with SJB policies and legal requirements. Ability to travel to assigned centers based on program needs. School Age Classrooms only: Accompany and supervise children on field trips; reinforce positive behavior in public settings; assists children in learning life skills as part of the instructional outing. Understands the difference between Social Emotional and Trauma Responsive curriculums. Provides and models techniques on bringing children with possible trauma triggers to safety. Understands the basic principles of Inclusion and is willing to learn more. Demonstrates the knowledge of CLASS domains and dimensions. CLASS training is a plus. Comfortable with looking for additional resources and tools on PBS (Positive Behavior Support) and sharing them with the classroom team. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Must be at least 18 years old. Possession of a high school diploma or its equivalent. 1 year of experience working directly with children in a school or related setting. Minimum of 12 semester ECE or CD units (including core courses - Programs/Curriculum, Child Family Community, Child/Human Growth & Development). Associate Teacher Permit or eligibility to obtain an Associate Teacher Permit preferred. Three semester units in the care and development of infants is required for those who work with infants, or be willing to complete 3 units. Completed CSEFEL training (3 Modules) and demonstrates the solid knowledge of the Teaching Pyramid principles including Individualized Intensive Intervention for the children with concerning behaviors and the history of traumatic experience. If not completed must be willing to complete the CSEFEL training. Must be in good health as verified by a current health screening, including a test for Tuberculosis performed under the supervision of a physician not more than one year prior to employment. Proof of up-to-date immunization records to include but not limited to Measles, Pertussis, Tuberculosis (every 4 years), and Influenza (annually). Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, criminal record, FBI and DOJ clearance and child abuse index check prior to employment. Must possess California Driver's License and meet minimum insurance requirements for personal vehicle and have a driving record which meets the standards set forth in Administrative Regulation 4532 and 4533. If current auto insurance has a “Business Use Exclusion” it will need to be removed from your policy. Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certificate or ability to obtain certification from an approved vendor within 90 days. Completion of Mandated Reporter Training as per Assembly Bill 1207.
