POSITION OVERVIEW:
Performs essential tasks involving the installation and assembly of structural iron and steel required in the construction and renovation of family housing units. The incumbent must exercise good interpersonal and technical skills while adhering to required safety standards and building codes.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine the locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
Installs and assembles iron and steel structures, including columns, beams, and girders, using hand tools and power tools.
Aligns, levels, and anchors the structures to ensure stability and compliance with project specifications.
Connects iron and steel components using bolts, screws, and welding equipment.
Adheres to safety regulations.
Inspects and maintains tools and equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety.
Collaborates with other construction professionals, including carpenters and plumbers, to ensure project requirements are met.
Works directly with project managers, superintendents, and other construction professionals to review plans and make recommendations for improvements.
Assists in coordinating specific project schedules by working with other iron workers, laborers, and required construction resources. Reviews and verifies materials to ensure conformance to direction provided by their project manager.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position, as appropriate.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
8+ years of related work experience in ironworking, including installation, assembly, and welding.

Accuracy, attention to detail, consistency, and clarity in conformance with required job duties and safety standards
Physical Requirements:
Physically must be able to lift up to 75 pounds to overhead position.

Chief Construction is seeking Steel Workers to join the Chief team. These positions perform a wide variety of construction activities based upon specific project requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
Build and install iron or steel girders, columns, and other construction materials
Erect steel frames, able to work heights.
Work around dangerous surroundings and equipment with necessary precautions
Make good productive decisions without constant supervision
Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner with respect to self and others
Participate in safety activities and wear required protective equipment
Qualifications and Skill Requirements:
Prior experience of erecting conventional steel and pre-engineered buildings preferred
Able to lift and carry 50 or more lbs on an occasional basis
Pass company paid physical assessment and pre-employment drug screen
Willing to travel or work non-regular hours as required to meet project commitments
Ability to communicate with other employees and customers
