Our Director of Operations will provide back end support for our programs and personnel. The Alliance for the Mystic River Watershed (******************** is the first Tribal and non-tribal Watershed Alliance in CT - and is composed of residents, members, staff, and leadership of the Mashantucket Pequot and Eastern Pequot Tribal Nations and the towns of Groton, Ledyard, North Stonington and Stonington. Our mission is to keep all life in the Mystic River safe and flourishing in these times of increasing change.
We are currently developing collaborative and community based planning and implementation processes for holistic watershed regeneration and the creation of a bioregional finance facility. This entails numerous community engagement and education events, the development of bioregion specific curriculum, youth based design processes and education programs, the creation of a Living Atlas Knowledge Commons (ArcOnline based mapping and observation platform), managing a watershed wide climate vulnerability assessment, and embarking upon a Watershed Regeneration Action Plan (including an EPA 9-elements Watershed Based Plan) process to guide millions of dollars of infrastructure investment and the development of regenerative enterprises.
Having begun as an all volunteer organization in 2022, the Alliance has quickly grown to have an annual budget of over $320k from ~$600k in awarded grants and annual donations over $47k. We currently have $6 million in grants under review, and have supported over $32 million in regional partner grants, and now have 3 FTE equivalents spread between 4 staff members and 5 contractors.
Success in this role will be evaluated by formalizing and streamlining administrative tasks, demonstrated contribution to organizational operational and financial development, and generation of good will and good feeling between staff, community members, the board, and our network of allies. As a start up organization, there is significant room to grow this role and contribute to the organizations programmatic and financial development.

Supporting budget development and managing organizational finances, including:

Work Environment, Compensation, and Terms
This is a largely remote position with some occasional travel to the Mystic River Watershed and surrounding areas.
The Ideal candidate will have familiarity with SE CT, and strong relations with communities in our watershed, including familiarity with Tribal Nation issues.
Hours are flexible, although the position should be generally responsive to email and phone communications during regular business hours unless sick or taking time off.
Occasional attendance at in person events may be required, with a minimum of 2 week lead time if so.
This is an at-will position, subject to 3 month mutual reviews with potential to update contract terms.
Contract length is 1 year from start date, this is a combination of grant funded and donor funded position, employment length depends upon availability of future funding post fall 2026

PAY - Rates vary depending on the area and will be at least $16 an hour.
Please note: Daily Shifts can be over 12 hours long. A weekend tournament (Fri, Sat, Sunday) can be over 30 hours of work. It is not for everyone and requires you to be on your feet and lift heavy objects.

Job Summary:
PIC Group is seeking an Auxiliary Operator for a power generation facility in Connecticut. The Auxiliary Operator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and monitoring power plant systems from the field to ensure safe and efficient operation. This role involves responding to alarms, executing plant startup and shutdown procedures, and assisting with maintenance activities as needed. The Auxiliary Operator works closely with the operations team to meet generation requirements while adhering to safety and environmental standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Operate gas turbines, steam turbines, and associated equipment safely and efficiently.
* Perform operational activities to support startup, shutdown, and routine operation of plant systems.
* Monitor and report equipment conditions, system anomalies, and operational concerns to plant leadership.
* Execute lockout-tagout procedures and electrical switching in accordance with safety protocols.
* Maintain accurate operating logs, environmental records, and other required documentation.
* Participate in the facility's safety programs and complete required safety and environmental training.
* Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on plant mechanical and electrical equipment.
* Respond to abnormal operating conditions safely and in compliance with environmental regulations.
* Perform basic chemical analysis and adjustments to maintain proper water and steam chemistry.
* Assist in plant housekeeping duties, including cleaning, painting, and general maintenance activities.
* Operate forklifts, trucks, man lifts, and other station vehicles as needed.
* Utilize the plant's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to document work orders and maintenance activities.
* Review and interpret technical documents such as piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), control logic diagrams, and operating procedures.
* Support the development and review of plant operating procedures and training programs.
Job Requirements:
* Experience in gas turbine power plants preferred.
* Minimum of two years of experience in an operations and maintenance role in a power generation or industrial facility (or a BS in Engineering as a substitute).
* Basic knowledge of physics, mathematics, AC/DC electrical theory, thermodynamics, and fluid flow.
* Understanding of power plant safety protocols, including chemical handling, high-energy systems, lockout-tagout, confined space entry, and rotating machinery safety.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
* Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Physical Requirements:
* Position requires working on feet for extended working hours and varied shifts with weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules.
* Must be able to frequently climb ladders; enter confined spaces; crawl to and through confined space areas; climb to and work from elevated platforms, and walkways at elevations of 75 feet or more.
Education / Experience:
* High school diploma, GED, trade school, military service, or technical training required
* 5+ years of experience in power generation operations required
* Prior experience operating gas and steam turbines in a combined-cycle power plant.

General Description Lifeguards are responsible for the supervision of a waterfront area during periods of operation at Mohegan Park Beach. Lifeguards are to insure patron service and safety both in and out of the water provide emergency care when needed and monitor and control patron activities at swimming sites.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Available mid-June through end of August 2025 including weekends.
* Monitor water area during hours of operation for participant safety.
* Explains; clarifies and enforces rules for participants' safety.
* Continually observes patrons both in and out of water to ensure their safety.
* Administers first aid/CPR/AED when necessary and completes the necessary reports.
* Keeps all certifications current and participates in all assigned in-service training.
* Assists in cleaning beach areas/locker rooms/bath houses etc.
* Keeps daily statistics and records of the number of patrons on site and the weather conditions of the location.
* Available for orientations as well as the entirety of Beach Season (approximately 10-12 weeks).
* Other duties as assigned.
