Diving Into the Values at SpotOn
One of the most important core values at SpotOn is the "Make a Difference" value. By inspiring employees to go the extra mile by changing the world, the company is driving long-term success. While this is the most important, it's not the only value that the company lives by:
We'll do right more often than not if we give people the freedom -- and encourage ownership -- to make a difference. We'll improve processes, delight our customers, build better products and be fulfilled by our work," said President RJ Horsley. "We truly live our company values, through actions far more than words. That commitment inherently creates the culture we're all proud to be a part of."
The Team at SpotOn
A Group That Nails it on the Head Every Day
Team members at SpotOn truly enjoy what they do day-in and day-out. That's because they get to decide what they work on. During every retroactive and performance review, team members are asked what they want to work on and what they're most excited about within the company.
"There's no shortage of work to do, and very few people like to get pigeon-holed into a role. Moving people around keeps them fresh and develops a more well-rounded skill set," said Appointments Team Director of Product Dain Hall. "Our employees' goals, career aspirations, and voices are at the forefront of our thought process and management style."
The team members who are the most successful in their careers at SpotOn are always excited to learn more. They sport a natural curiosity that contributes to their eagerness to jump in hands-on on any new project or job role.
Project Manager Briana Shucart is constantly gathering requirements for new projects, but the most important aspect of her job is fostering healthy communication, especially between development teams and stakeholders.
"It would be really easy for each of these teams to be siloed, but everyone at SpotOn takes the time to get to know their team members," Shucart said. "Some of my team members have become my close friends."
The Culture at SpotOn
On the Spot Collaboration
The long-lasting relationships that come out of SpotOn are really refreshing considering today's fast-moving culture. But these relationships don't just form randomly. Instead, it takes a lot of work on the company's part and that's where the collaborative culture comes into play.
Collaboration isn't lost at SpotOn. In a company survey that was hosted by Slack in 2019, team members noted that collaboration was the foundation of the company and the reason for its success. Team members said that collaboration allows them to branch out and own their work.
"It's about collaboration, not ego," Shucart said. "Sometimes I go to our co-founder, Doron Friedman, for advice when I'm having trouble moving a project forward, and sometimes I'm the one suggesting an alternate design for our product or priority for our immediate roadmap. Ultimately, I don't have to go through hoops to get answers."
In addition, the SpotOn culture is one where employees know they can speak up whether it's about improving a product or providing feedback. "Our culture is the true sense of collaboration, as we don't have a technical hierarchy, and this means everyone is given a sense of responsibility and trust," said QA Engineer Minever Abdurahmanova.
