Use evidence-based strategies to establish caring connections with children, use co-regulation to help them regulate their emotions, and support their overall social emotional development.
Consult regularly with teaching team to review student progress, share ideas and resources, and involve families in student learning and progress towards goals.
Help to prepare progress reports and learning portfolios for family conferences.
Plan curricular experiences and modifications for students with IEPS who are the MTSS program.
Maintain collaborative and productive relationships with all classroom staff including Teacher Assistants and Dedicated Aides.
Document strategies for individualizing weekly lessons plans for children with special needs on weekly planning forms in ways that are responsive to children's varying needs, skills, abilities and interests. The Academy is recruiting five teachers who are passionate about American history and democracy to guide students along this once in a lifetime opportunity. By partnering with the National Park Service, College Board, the Case Method Institute, and Braver Angels, teachers will be well equipped to implement a unique curriculum that helps students explore the development of our nation's democracy and provide them with the tools to prepare for a better future.
Throughout the summer, teachers will work in and out of the classroom with students and travel to over 30 historic sites around Virginia, Washington D.C., Maryland, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia including the U.S. Capitol, Smithsonian museums, Harpers Ferry, Gettysburg, Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestowne, and many more.

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable instructor to join our urban outdoor education program for young children. This role combines environmental education with early childhood development, fostering a love for nature and exploration in young learners. ECE specialists will team with Naturalist Instructors to facilitate groups of children aged 4 to 10. All summer instructors will work up to 30 hours per week; scheduling is flexible within our 8:00am to 6:00pm hours of operation.

This program is largely field-based and very dynamic; plans are often adjusted based on weather or other circumstances. Education and Experience
Preferred master's degree in education or related experience
Demonstrated track record of success within Education, Adult Education, Workforce Development, and/or related fields.
Minimum of ten years of successful teaching, coaching and/or teacher supervising experience, preferably with adult learners.
Experience working with Experience working with immigrant populations, two-generation education programs, schools and community-based organizations, student information systems, educational technologies, in-person and virtual learning environments, and highly collaborative work environments is desired.
English and Spanish proficiency; other languages a plus
Ability to work independently and without immediate supervision
Reasoning Ability- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out moderately complex, multi-step instructions and make appropriate independent decisions as necessary.
Physical Demands- Regularly required standing, walking, and sitting, sometimes for many hours at a time; frequently required to reach with hands and arms, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear; must be able to lift objects up to twenty-five pounds.
Work Environment - Primarily works in a typical office and classroom setting with quiet to moderate noise level. Ability to regularly travel around Washington, D.C. using personal and/or public modes of transportation to work at all Briya locations. This position typically works Monday - Friday: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, and occasionally needs to maintain work hours outside of these times, including evenings and weekends.
