Primary Purpose:
This position will use pallet-handling equipment to effectively sort and evaluate pallets for production or repair. Pallets will be evaluated based on company standards and emphasis placed on reducing waste, meeting quality standards, and production goals.
Essential Responsibilities:
Safely and efficiently utilize the forklift for pallet separation, loading, and unloading
Ability to stack stable, well-built pallets for shipment, stock, or in-house use.
Understanding the pallet components, dimensions, and repair methods used when evaluating and repairing pallets.
Professional, courteous manner in working with internal customers and outside vendors.
Consistently meet established company production and quality level standards.
Utilize good housekeeping processes.
Utilize pallet return processes to minimize damage and other wastes.
Occasional Responsibilities:
Trains/ participates on Warehouse teams and work groups.
Accurately maintain records of pallet production, quality goals, and daily hours.

R10067003 Cylinder Sorter (Open) How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW? Sorts empty cylinders being received by filling plant for refilling and performs necessary prefill inspection steps to qualify cylinders for refill. Examines returned cylinders for surface defects, such as dents, cracks, and burns, and rolls cylinders to designated work area. Loads cylinders on vehicles, using hand truck, chain hoist or forklift, and records type and quantity of cylinders.
In particular you will:
* Loads and unloads gas cylinders and/or other products onto and off of route trucks and trailers moving cylinders with proper carts only.
* Sorts empty cylinders by type.
* Rolls cylinders and operates a forklift truck for the movement of cylinders on pallets.
* Understands hazards of various gases; size and contents of cylinders by reading and interpreting cylinder labels and the color-coding of tanks. Accurately labels cylinders.
* Handles high-pressure, medical and liquid cylinders. Prepares high pressure cylinders and cryogenic vessels for filling. Attaches to manifold, evacuates cylinders to eliminate all possible contaminants.
* Performs basic cylinder maintenance such as painting cylinders, labeling cylinders, and cleaning of work area.
* Checks for cylinder quantities, styles and product, and/or assists with inventory
* Inspects cylinders prior to filling, following standard procedures as required by government, Airgas, and distributor standards. Conducts a variety of Safety checks per procedures, such as odor tests, checking caps and valves.
* Manages paperwork to DOT, FDA, OSHA, and Airgas standards. Completes quality control sheets as required.
* Complies with all government and company standards relating to the safe handling of hazardous materials/cylinder gases.
* Maintains a neat, clean and orderly plant appearance.

The Quality Control Sorter is responsible for processing and separating various materials, by hand, on the MRF tipping floor or on a moving conveyor. This position also may require directing of vehicle traffic on the tipping floor. Maintaining a clean and hazard-free work area. Report any equipment malfunctions. Follow appropriate standard operating procedures.
Sorts and segregates recoverable materials (e.g., aluminum, plastic, glass, paper, etc.) from incoming waste or green waste material, by hand, from material piled on the tipping floor or, by hand, on a moving conveyor.
Deposit recoverable materials safely and efficiently into appropriate containers; places separated material into appropriate piles or containers.
Assist other sorters on an as-needed basis with heavy or bulky items.
Assist customers with unloading vehicles in the self-haul area.
Follow all City safety policies and procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times and stopping the conveyor belt in emergency situations.
Inspect incoming loads for unacceptable waste; remove unacceptable items as required and arrange for handling through appropriate processes or by notifying appropriate staff.
Communicate with equipment operators regarding incoming loads of special waste or other loads that require special attention.
Maintenance of a clean workstation and area.
Performs minor maintenance on equipment as necessary.

Under general supervision, performs the full array of duties assigned including processing and separating various materials in a safe and efficient manner, by hand, from material piles on the MRF tipping floor or, by hand, on a moving conveyor; maintains a clean and hazard-free work area; demonstrates a full understanding of all applicable policies, procedures and work methods associated with assigned duties; assists, occasionally, in training newer assigned staff; performs related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Quality Control Sorter is responsible for processing and separating various materials, by hand, on the MRF tipping floor or on a moving conveyor. This position also may require directing of vehicle traffic on the tipping floor. Maintaining a clean and hazard-free work area. Report any equipment malfunctions. Follow appropriate standard operating procedures.
Sorts and segregates recoverable materials (e.g., aluminum, plastic, glass, paper, etc.) from incoming waste or green waste material, by hand, from material piled on the tipping floor or, by hand, on a moving conveyor.
Deposit recoverable materials safely and efficiently into appropriate containers; places separated material into appropriate piles or containers.
Assist other sorters on an as-needed basis with heavy or bulky items.
Assist customers with unloading vehicles in the self-haul area.
Follow all City safety policies and procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times and stopping the conveyor belt in emergency situations.
Inspect incoming loads for unacceptable waste; remove unacceptable items as required and arrange for handling through appropriate processes or by notifying appropriate staff.
Communicate with equipment operators regarding incoming loads of special waste or other loads that require special attention.
Maintenance of a clean workstation and area.
Performs minor maintenance on equipment as necessary.
Empties and cleans waste or material receptacles.
Maintains assigned equipment and maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner.
Demonstrates a full understanding of applicable policies, procedures and work methods associated with assigned duties.
The Sorter is responsible for safely and efficiently processing incoming recyclable materials so that outbound commodities are acceptable for sale to various brokers or mills.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must be 18.
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent required.
Previous experience working in a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) sorting recyclable materials.
One year of previous experience working in heavy machinery.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment for this position is a typical office but requires outdoor activity as well, which includes all weather-related situations.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high stress environment with stringent monthly deadlines, quotas, and goals.
