What you will do in this role:
Applies fetal ultrasound principles in the evaluation of fetal anomalies
Applies gynecological ultrasound principles in the evaluation of patient
Adapts to various ultrasound machines while maintaining high standards of sonography
Identifies fetal anomalies, such as CNS, maxillofacial, cardiothoracic, abdomen, abdomen wall, genitourinary, extremity placental, umbilical cord growth disturbance
Performs ultrasounds on maternal uterus, cervix and ovaries
Performs complicated twin and triplet scans in conjunction with in-office multiple gestation service
Identifies gynecological anomalies such as fibroids, thickened endometrium and polyps
Makes preliminary, equivocal diagnosis of gynecological and fetal disorders in the organ systems mentioned in above
Operates General Electric, Accuson, Medison, and ATL ultrasound machines with proficiency.
Continues to expand knowledge of latest technology
Maintains ultrasound logging records including past medical history, past surgical history, past obstetric history, and past genetic history.
Prepares patients for procedures including and not limited to Level I &II ultrasounds, amniocentesis, lung maturity amniocentesis, PUBS, amino reduction, external cephalic version, and GYN ultrasound
Maintains professional relationship with other staff members, other obstetric offices and hospital personnel
Exercises independent judgement when interpreting Biophysical Profiles designed to assess fetal well-being
Alerts physicians of potentially dangerous conditions. Diagnoses fetal weight disturbances based on fetal biometry
Diagnoses multiple fetal anomalies and reports and demonstrates them to physician
Other duties as assigned
What Qualifications you will need:
Associates degree in Ultrasound required
Bachelors degree preferred
RDMS required
RDMS OB/GYN preferred

The Ultrasound Technologist performs all ordered Duplex Ultrasound scans and assists the physician or provider in performing procedures for patients suffering from chronic venous insufficiency. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform patient evaluation and assessment prior to ultrasound examination within scope of practice
Perform ultrasound examination of patients and create a diagram demonstrating venous anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology to assist the physician in recommending a safe, effective treatment plan
Assist the Physician in educating the patient on the treatment plan and how the treatment plan addresses the patient's specific needs
Assist the Physician or Advanced Practice Provider during Ultrasound Guided Injection treatment sessions with the appropriate directions regarding needle placement and recommendations for volume and strength of solution to be injected
Assist the Physician during endovenous thermal or endovenous adhesive ablation procedures with the appropriate directions regarding catheter placement and withdrawal, and set up for and clean up following ablation procedures
Perform all additional scans indicated by the treatment plan at the direction of the Physician to ensure the efficacy of treatment and safety of the patients
Within the limits of safety, adhere to the standard time allotments for each type of scan in order to maintain the smooth and efficient flow of patients throughout the course of the scheduled day
Working with the operations staff, review and update the ultrasound schedule to ensure safe patient care and to maintain the patient load at an efficient and productive level
Develop and maintain a high level of skills commensurate with the standards set by the National Medical Director through continued education and interaction with other VCA Ultrasound Technologists
Maintain equipment and manage the supply inventory to ensure continued and effective operations
Clean and maintain designated ultrasound and procedure rooms following each procedure or scan and at the end of the day to ensure smooth patient flow throughout the day
Obtain and document patient photos at several intervals throughout the treatment process
When not actively engaged with a scheduled patient, assist other staff members with their duties in the spirit of teamwork in order to maintain an effective and efficient operation
Maintain flexibility with given schedule, and in the nature of team spirit, provide support and coverage for other clinics in need of ultrasound coverage
Build rapport with patients by instilling a high level of confidence in our providers' ability to fully address their medical concerns
Develop efficiencies that will allow clinic to increase patient flow and still provide the highest quality of care to patients

Performs non-invasive imaging evaluation of arteries and veins by Doppler and plethysmographic techniques. Verifies the requisition/chart for valid written order, priority date, ordering comments, physician's notes, precautions and patient consent forms. Performs high quality US examinations according to exam protocol in a timely manner. Assists the physician as needed in performing additional imaging or biopsy procedures. Ensures that images and records are properly completed with patient identification data and appropriate labeling. FOCUS:
This role focuses on ultrasound support for VEG hospitals and training facilities. You will work closely with emergency doctors to provide same-day ultrasound scans for pets when they need it most. You will also assist in coordinating education opportunities and overall ultrasound training for your home and regional hospitals. Ensure all training content and activities are in alignment with VEG culture, mission, and vision, and represent accurate, up-to-date sonographic techniques
Track doctor and nursing team skills with a VEG Ultrasound Certificate checklist
Engage in self-reflection and program evaluation practices to modify and enhance VEG's ultrasound training programs
Regularly meet with the medical directors, VNDCs, and director of radiology education to discuss program development, training objectives, and additional needs
Regularly meet with hospital manager and medical director to discuss implementation of new training protocols, training schedules, hospital training needs, and interpersonal concerns
Coordinate weekly schedule with hospital manager and medical director to work on-the-floor shifts and dedicate time to training responsibilities
May assist in developing ultrasound curriculum material, as needed, such as PowerPoints, videos, simulations, and assessments to be implemented across the doctor and nursing team training programs

Job Purpose:
Performs and assists with high quality diagnostic ultrasound procedures, focusing on patient care and education.
Provide high quality diagnostic ultrasound images

Completion of accredited Medical Sonography Program by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs

Responsibilities
The MFM Sonographer provides diagnostic ultrasound tests for patients in the Maternal Fetal Medicine setting. The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer works independently and with other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care to pregnant women.
* Explains exam to patient and family prior to the commencement of the test to assure cooperation and optimum test results.
* Acquires anatomical, pathological, and/or physiological data.
* Records/processes sonographic data and other pertinent observations made during the procedure.
* Creates a preliminary report for physician interpretation and review/signature.
* Assists physician with procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.
