12. Invasive Procedures
An invasive procedure is one where access to the body is gained through a percutaneous puncture or incision. The procedure when access to the body is obtained and ends when the or the skin is closed or the instrument is removed from the body. Invasive procedures must be performed by trained healthcare professionals using appropriate sterile instruments. These instruments could include scalpels, scissors, endoscopes, catheters, devices, tubes and/or more.
