Minimum Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technologist program or Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program.
- Registered as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Vascular Technologist (RVT), or Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or certified in Sonography (S) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). State licensure if required by law.

- BLS - BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.

Sonographer:
- Reviews patient history, physician's orders and does scheduling. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation. When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice
- Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to change in status as appropriate. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
- Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary. Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.

What you will do in this role:
Applies fetal ultrasound principles in the evaluation of fetal anomalies
Applies gynecological ultrasound principles in the evaluation of patient
Adapts to various ultrasound machines while maintaining high standards of sonography
Identifies fetal anomalies, such as CNS, maxillofacial, cardiothoracic, abdomen, abdomen wall, genitourinary, extremity placental, umbilical cord growth disturbance
Performs ultrasounds on maternal uterus, cervix and ovaries
Performs complicated twin and triplet scans in conjunction with in-office multiple gestation service
Identifies gynecological anomalies such as fibroids, thickened endometrium and polyps
Makes preliminary, equivocal diagnosis of gynecological and fetal disorders in the organ systems mentioned in above
Operates General Electric, Accuson, Medison, and ATL ultrasound machines with proficiency.
Continues to expand knowledge of latest technology
Maintains ultrasound logging records including past medical history, past surgical history, past obstetric history, and past genetic history.
Prepares patients for procedures including and not limited to Level I &II ultrasounds, amniocentesis, lung maturity amniocentesis, PUBS, amino reduction, external cephalic version, and GYN ultrasound
Maintains professional relationship with other staff members, other obstetric offices and hospital personnel
Exercises independent judgement when interpreting Biophysical Profiles designed to assess fetal well-being
Alerts physicians of potentially dangerous conditions. Diagnoses fetal weight disturbances based on fetal biometry
Diagnoses multiple fetal anomalies and reports and demonstrates them to physician

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform exams in a safe and efficient manner.
Prepare patients for exams by explaining the procedure and assisting as needed with transferring them to the ultrasound table.
Obtain and record accurate patient information, which includes a timeout to confirm the patients name and DOB. Include prior test results and information from physical examinations when appropriate in a timely manner.
Operate and adjust ultrasound equipment and maneuver patients to obtain quality images for diagnostic purposes.
Perform sonogram and provide oral and/or written summary of technical findings to assist physician with diagnosis and treatment.
Determine appropriate images to include to differentiate between normal and pathological areas.
Transfer all images to the PAC system and possess working knowledge of PACS functionality.
Maintain a clean and safe environment within each exam room.
Maintain Cleaning logs for each machine/room.
Maintain and stock supplies, prepare supplies for special examinations, and order supplies when necessary.
Report any malfunctioning equipment to management in a timely manner.
Adhere to all UUGs policies and procedures for Infection Control.
