Performs diagnostic ultrasound, physiologic, and duplex studies on patients of all ages according to approved protocols, ultrasound exposure, safety, and established exam indicators including spectral analysis and color Doppler displays. Schedules and obtains history from patients. Evaluates the appropriateness of requested exams and assists with procedures. Maintains knowledge of equipment and instruments/supplies pertinent to high quality exams. Provides effective internal and external patient communication consistent with age and mental capacity. Some travel between sites expected.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography with OB/GYN and Nuchal Translucency (NT) required.
Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Registered as a Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred.
Bachelor's degree in science or Allied Health field preferred.

IMAGING:
Provides quality images with accuracy and efficiency, using optimal skills and knowledge of all equipment.
Performs and maintains competency in Abdominal, OB/GYN, Small Parts, Biopsy, Carotid, Peripheral Venous, and Peripheral Arterial ultrasound studies in accordance with department standards and guidelines as detailed in the Ultrasound Procedure Manual.
Recognizes the significance of structures visualized, differentiates artifacts and records scan for permanent record.
Operates all ultrasound imaging equipment to insure accurate and quality images.
Develops and presents films and related patient information to physician for diagnosis.
Assists with patient transport by moving patients using standard procedures.

Gathers complete documentation of all pertinent information to provide accurate and timely service to customers.
Identifies patient by checking patient's I.D., full name and medical record number according to department procedure.
Reviews patient chart and orders to insure correct examination.

**Job Summary and Qualifications**
The Cardiac Sonographer is an integral part of the Cardiopulmonary team. We pride ourselves in knowing that our employees are compassionate, kind and deliver high quality, patient centered care. + You will be responsible for the accurate performance and coordination of various procedures in the Echocardiology Department, which includes Echocardiograms, vascular work, transesophageal echo, pacemaker analysis and exercise echo
+ You will perform two-dimensional ultrasonic recordings for diagnosis of cardiac disease.
+ You must have a working knowledge of stress testing and as it relates to the Echocardiology department. Either exercise stress or pharmacological stress
+ You will participate in PI activities.
+ You will assist with stress testing and other non-invasive cardio diagnostic testing.
+ You will assist with other non-invasive cardo diagnostic testing.
**What qualifications you will need:**
+ American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification. Must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
+ Associate Degree
+ Registered Cardiac Sonographer, or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, or Registered Cardiac Sonographer
