    Responsibilities As the Director of Software Engineering at Meritage Homes, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the core home builder systems, including JDE E1, Hyphen, and FileNet, while also leading the delivery of a new Land Development technology solution. Your key responsibilities will include driving the strategic direction, development, and successful implementation of these platforms, ensuring they align with business needs and future growth objectives: Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction and vision for software engineering initiatives, aligning them with the organization's goals and objectives. System Architecture and Design: Oversee the architecture and design of software systems utilizing JDE E1, Hyphen, FileNet, and the TBD Land Acquisition / Development software solution, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability. Software Development Lifecycle: Define and enforce best practices and standards for the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance. Collaboration and Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, project managers, and stakeholders, to gather requirements, prioritize tasks, and ensure successful project delivery. Technical Leadership: Stay current with emerging technologies and trends, providing technical expertise and guidance to the team. Drive innovation and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Quality Assurance and Testing: Implement robust testing strategies to ensure the quality and reliability of software solutions. Establish and monitor metrics for software performance and reliability. Risk and Issue Management: Identify and mitigate risks and issues associated with software engineering projects. Proactively address challenges and implement contingency plans when necessary. Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external vendors and partners, ensuring the successful integration of third-party software and tools. Compliance and Security: Ensure software systems adhere to regulatory compliance standards and security protocols. Implement appropriate measures to protect sensitive data. Qualifications Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Extensive experience (7 years) in software engineering, including hands-on experience with JDE E1, Oracle Textura or similar Land Dev Mgt, Hyphen, and FileNet Proven track record of successfully managing software engineering teams and delivering high-quality software solutions. Strong understanding of software development methodologies, best practices, and tools. Expertise in system architecture and design, with a focus on scalability and performance optimization. Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire technical teams. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical challenges. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience with Agile or other iterative development methodologies. Familiarity with compliance standards and security protocols related to software systems.
