Perform all operations in the manufacture and rework of surface mount technology (SMT), Plated Through Hole (PTH), and mixed technology (such as SMT and PTH) printed wiring assemblies and related technologies using computer aided and manually operated machinery. Perform equipment set-up, operation, and product and process verification. Manufacturing Process Standards (MPS), blueprints, change notices, engineering notes or verbal direction, perform the following duties to produce fully acceptable SMT, PTH and mixed technology hardware: Form components using manual and automated tools. Set-up, operate, and maintain the automated component tinning machine. Ensure the segregation and accurate inventory of various customers' SMT and mixed technology components utilizing local kit carousel or locked inventory storage. Electronically record component usage data per engineering direction using bar code technology or manual recording. Test solder paste for acceptability. Operate both automated and manual screen printing equipment. Operate automated adhesive application equipment. Manually apply adhesive as required. Mix and degas multi-component materials prior to application. Set-up machinery for automated ("pick and place") and manual placement. Ensure that components are correctly loaded in automated feeders or carousels. Initialize equipment, verifying satisfactory process operation before beginning production runs. Set-up and operate continuous or batch hot nitrogen reflow ovens for solder paste reflow and adhesive curing. Perform all necessary rework and repair of components, using semi-automatic removal and placement equipment. With minimal direction, perform all component installation operations associated with PTH printed wiring boards. Perform component traceability, preparation (tinning and forming) and installation using available tools. Verify correct component polarity and installation per engineering instruction and referenced specifications. Ensure component integrity during PTH component installation on mixed technology boards. Operate wave solder machine for PTH component soldering . Rework PTH components as required, providing protection from possible board damage (heat or physical component damage) during desoldering, removal, replacement and hand soldering operations. Verify process results and resultant hardware quality. Record, plot and evaluate Statistical Process Control data to ensure maintenance of optimum, controlled SMT and PTH or related processes. Identify undesirable trends/concerns to methods engineering and work together to resolve anomalies. Basic Qualifications • Complete knowledge of programmable and robotic control systems as they apply to SMT, PTH, and mixed technology manufacturing operations. • Operator must possess complete knowledge of all skills described herein and must possess certification in advanced soldering, wave soldering and SMT production techniques. • Operator must also have completed training program in advanced soldering rework, Integrated Product Development (IPD) teaming, and SMT theory and techniques. • Typically requires a minimum of five years of experience in PTH assembly production and two years of SMT operations experience.     The Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) operates a combination of Cathode Ray Tube (CRT)/keyboard/Voice Communication System (VCS) to simulate the actions and communication of pilots and remote Air Traffic Control (ATC) facilities during medium and high-fidelity training exercises. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Receives voice commands from students. Responds to students via the VCS utilizing proper phraseology. Inputs proper entries into the automated system to simulate pilot actions. Translates displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology. Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Qualifications: Required: High School Diploma or equivalent. 1 year of experience in a comparable position. Ability to type 40 wpm with 90% accuracy. Ability to read and interpret materials such as diagrams and manuals. Ability to speak clearly and be understood. Ability to complete the knowledge and skills tests for each area/sector to be supported. Each knowledge test will be graded and must be passed with a score of at least 70%. Upon successful completion of the knowledge tests, the RPO will begin training for the skills tests. The RPO shall observe a previously certified RPO, an FAA employee, or Contractor Instructor performing RPO duties on a minimum of 5 simulation scenarios. The RPO will receive on-the-job training on at least 5 but no more than 20 simulation scenarios on each control position to be supported, after which an FAA Representative will observe their performance and determine if certification will be granted. The RPO must achieve simulation laboratory certification within 120 days of reporting for duty at the facility. Desired : Previous experience working on a multi-disciplinary team.
