This course is several hours long and will cover OSPF at great lengths. I will explain the inner workings of this highly scalable and complexed protocol. DISCLAIMER:   Please note that the simulators/emulators used in this course are not part of the course. It is the students responsibility to have these to practice with. The Cisco Packet Tracer and/or VIRAL (Virtual Internet Routing Lab) are Cisco proprietary software and can only be obtained through Cisco. It is up to each student to obtain the simulator/emulator of their choice to study along with this course. Students will get a thorough understanding of OSPF and how we would implement it in a real world environment. We will discuss the following concepts OSPF terminology; process ID's, LSA, DBD, LDB's and much more. We will be configuring OSPF in a point-to-point and broadcast type of network and understand the differences between them. Analyze the election process of DR and BDR using loopback addresses, priority numbers or putting in the router id manually. Once you get an understanding of how OSPF works and it's configurations we will then go into explaining and creating multiple area OSPF and OSPFV3 and analyze them as well. This is a lecture based course using the Touch-IT Technology Smart board, which will make learning very interactive and engaging. Hands on labs will be used to drill down the concepts learned in each lecture using Cisco's Packet Tracer. My method will make you feel like you are sitting in a classroom environment and give the most needed hands on experience! Handouts will be available to facilitate learning and practice. OSPF routing protocol is one the best (if not the best) interior routing protocol that many networks' companies use it. It has a lot of features and it is very reliable to be configured on our networks' routers as a routing protocol - that's the good side of the story. The bad side of the story: OSPF is a COMPLEX routing protocol to understand and to configure. Many network engineers working with MikroTik products find OSPF difficult and many of them try to replace it with a simple routing protocol which doesn't requires a lot of IT knowledge such as RIP. That's the easiest way to solve the problem, but believe it that RIP will become a big issue and will cause for you a lot of problems when your network becomes bigger with many routers. For this reason, I have planned to design this course to go fully into OSPF and to show you how you can configure it on MikroTik RouterOS v7. During this course, I will pass through all OSPF topics & I will explain them in a very simple way then I will do a LAB on each of those topics to show you how you can configure this on MikroTik. For the whole course, I will be using GNS3 emulator with the Free Mikrotik CHR license to be able to do my labs. If you are already an old students of my courses, then you may already know how to download/install GNS3 and make it work with the CHR image. With this method, you don't need to invest in buying physical MikroTik routers to follow my course.
