The IHSC provides on-site direct patient care to ICE detainees at 21 detention facilities throughout the country and manages the provision of off-site medical care for detainees housed in approximately 240 additional Intergovernmental Service Agreement (IGSA) facilities. The ICE detainee population is approximately 34,000 detainees on a daily basis, with an average length of stay of approximately 30 days, and over 400,000 detainees annually. IHSC also provides medical support during ICE enforcement operations in the air, on the ground, and at sea. SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: Incumbent works under the direction of the ISOU Unit Chief.     Critical Care Medicine Advanced Practice Provider Fellow The MedStar Health Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship is a one-year program (October-September) in which an APP fellow will engage in an interprofessional team at a large tertiary hospital serving a diverse critical care population. The program is a formalized pathway for new graduate APPs to be comprehensively trained in Critical Care Medicine with an opportunity to work within Critical Care at MedStar Health. The APP Fellow will complete rotations through five specialty Critical Care areas, rotate through 2 electives, and gain exposure to the hospital-wide Sepsis Response Team. By the end of the year, the APP Fellow will demonstrate competency in several Critical Care domains, by way of the program's objectives: * Obtain a comprehensive experience in a high acuity, high volume critical care system * Gain a deeper understanding of the anatomy and physiology of common pathologies seen in a diverse critical care population. * Develop proficiency in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of a wide variety of critical care populations. * Advance skills in teamwork, communication, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team in a high-acuity critical care setting. * Prepare Critical Care APP Fellows for independent practice in a wide variety of Critical Care Practice settings. Curriculum: * Introductory Critical Care Boot Camp * Opportunities to participate in high fidelity Critical Care Simulations * Structured rotation through five Critical Care specialties with supervision and mentorship from experienced Critical Care providers. * Monthly didactic sessions focusing on core Critical Care topics * Weekly education provided in collaboration with the Medical and Surgical Residency, as well as multiple CME opportunities through the department of critical care. * Scholarly involvement, including participation in a hospital-based quality/process improvement project and departmental journal club. * Exposure to frequently performed Critical Care procedures, such as central line insertion, arterial line insertion, chest tube placement, and thoracentesis. * Stipend and benefits provided Application Requirements: * Program is open Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner applicants * Physician Assistants must have graduated from or in the final year of an ARC-PA accredited Physician Master's degree program or higher and be NCCPA certified or eligible to sit for the PANCE * Nurse Practitioners must have graduate from or in the final year of an ANCC accredited Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Master's degree program or higher and be AG-ACNP certified or eligible to sit for the AG-ACNP exam * Personal statement/cover letter * Curriculum Vitae * Two professional/ academic letters of recommendation (preferably one from a provider in Critical Care Medicine). * Interested candidates should apply directly to ************************** * All applications are due no later than 4/11/25 for consideration This position has a hiring range of $70,000 - $80,000.
