O-5 Billet This position is located within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), ICE Health Service Corps (IHSC), Office of Deputy Assistant Director of Clinical Services. The incumbent will report directly to the site Health Services Administrator. This is a non-supervisory position. IHSC has a multi-sector, multidisciplinary workforce of more than 1400 employees, including U.S. Public Health Service (PHS) commissioned officers, federal civil servants, and contract staff. The IHSC provides on-site direct patient care to ICE detainees at 23 detention facilities throughout the country and manages the provision of off-site medical care for detainees housed in approximately 240 additional Intergovernmental Service Agreement (IGSA) facilities. The ICE detainee population is approximately 34,000 detainees on a daily basis, with an average length of stay of approximately 30 days, and over 400,000 detainees annually. By providing consistent and quality care, our caregiving team ensures our residents live meaningful life. Essential Functions: Assists residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, transferring, and mobility Engages residents in meaningful conversation, socialization, and activity while providing personal care assistance Responds to all resident needs and/or requests for care promptly, and provides or obtains assistance with care as necessary Assists in the dining room during resident meal times Encourages residents to participate in scheduled activities and outings, and assists with those activities as needed Assists in the cleanliness of the community, including straightening resident beds, emptying resident garbage, and tidies resident rooms daily and as needed Assists with resident laundry per shift guidelines Minimum Eligibility Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience working with the elderly in a residential or long-term care setting is preferred. Must be able to read, write and speak English to communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, and other staff members. Must be able to perform job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation. Able to pass the necessary tests (i.e., CPR, First Aid, Food Handlers, etc.) if required by state regulations.
