JOB DETAILS Base Pay: $21.50 - $22.50 per hour Swing Shift: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Work as part of team to assemble wooden crates for packing windows/doors. Assemble wooden crates to package units that will be shipped via container to offshore customers.
* Receive and review paperwork from shipping office
* Review first order
* Visualize and determine best possible crate size for order
* Measure and cut wood pieces (using chop saw) for crate
* Build crate shell using a staple gun
* Retrieve first order of window/door units from storage racks, place unit into waiting cart for transport
* Move cart loaded with windows/doors to work area
* Remove product identification stickers from units
* Fit products into crate shell, add foam to secure and cushion
* Brace units with additional wood pieces, staple face piece of crate in place, and affix product sticker to crate
* Mark address, purchase order number, quantity, onto outside of crate
* Lift completed crate with forklift
* Using forklift, weigh crate and record weight on outside of crate. Enter weight and number of pieces into database
* Move crate to staging area
* Complete and return paperwork to shipping office
* Assist in other Shipping positions as required
* Perform quality control tasks: visually inspects wood, PVC and glass for imperfections, place rejects in specified area
* Sweep, wipe surfaces, blow surfaces clean with air hose, empty waste/recycling containers, and/or clean work area as needed throughout the shift
Qualifications
* Ability to visualize and determine crate dimensions
* Ability to perform complex measurements and calculations to set crate dimensions
* Ability to safely operate forklift and scale equipment
* Ability to safely operate chop saw to cut crate pieces and staple gun to assemble pieces
* Ability to prioritize work tasks according to production requirements
* Ability to visually perceive scratches, irregularities, or other imperfections in materials
* Ability to comprehend written instructions, measurements, or coding spelled out on production paperwork/tags
