    Cascade Steel is currently hiring a Rolling Mill Shift Supervisor in McMinnville, Oregon. Founded in 1968, Cascade Steel Rolling Mills is a state-of-the-art steel manufacturing facility that takes recycled metal and turns it into high-quality finished steel products. Located in McMinnville, OR (near Portland), our electric arc furnace (EAF) mini-mill produces a wide range of hot rolled products such as reinforcing bar (rebar), coiled reinforcing bar, wire rod, merchant bar and other specialty products. Position Highlights · Annual compensation range 100K-150K · Work 4-days on, 4-days off schedule with 12-hour shifts · Medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k) match offered · Uniforms and safety equipment provided Job Duties Plan and supervise the shift rolling mill crew to produce quality steel products in accordance to customer and CSRM requirements (grade and products specifications). Communicate with the shipping/finishing foreman and quality metallurgical technicians, i.e., inspectors on production and quality matters. Work with the millwrights and electricians to maintain high level of production and keep downtime to a minimum. Maintain safe working environment and detect and correct unsafe conditions. Inform employees of proper safety procedures. Direct and train crew members in each task utilizing his knowledge of the process and the skills of other trained crew members. Form teamwork within the crew. Ensure that the guide shop (bearing tender and guide setter) have built the proper stands and guides for the current and preceding product rolling. Inspect and sign off on all stands built in the shop. Communicate orally and with written communication to other rollers, guide* shop foreman, general foreman and superintendent on crew and mill equipment performance and problems. Use CS web quality, RM web pages. Knowledge of quality procedures instructions as indicated in QA2.03.F1 Training Needs Matrix Master and Department. Initiate and record monthly crew safety meetings and annual training. Administrate health and safety policies, procedures and instructions. Provide training for each position. Maintain employee files, employ training records and evaluate training needs. Report and correct deficiencies in procedures or instructions. Able to execute the contingency plan if circumstances require action. Able to administer United Steelworker contract and human resources policies. Anticipate changeovers, interpret blueprints and spreadsheets. Approve timecards, filing accident reports, authorizing vacations and discipline. Hold monthly safety meetings with crew. Perform other duties as assigned. Ideal candidates will have experience in bar, rod or section mill experience in various positions (i.e., Reheating, Main Pulpit, Shear, Guide Shop, Roll Shop, etc.) preferred. Experience in a supervisory position or acting in a supervisory position on a regular basis preferred. For more information, visit our website , or connect with us on LinkedIn . **Responsibilities** _The primary duties and responsibilities of the Shift Supervisor consist of, but are not limited to, the following:_ + Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations. + Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk. + Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws + Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks. + Lead all required meetings with safety (i.e. Pre-shift, Department, Change Management, General communication, etc.) + Completes incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner. + Responsible for tracking and directing all parts manufactured as needed for work order. + Responsible for overseeing production rate of skilled labor to monitor workflow, efficiency and quality. + Responsible for issuing corrective action notifications for program areas failing to meet the quality / delivery expectations. + Responsible for consistently evaluating / documenting personnel performance as needed. + Responsible for managing housekeeping of entire production area + Responsible for supervising, overseeing and directing all department employees in their daily performance of job duties as it pertains to their productivity, quality of product manufactured, housekeeping and safety. + Responsible for training assignments of new employees, evaluate progress during 90-day probationary period, recommends discharge or retention. + Responsible for: conducting all counseling and written warnings, suspensions violations of plant rules. + Responsible for reviewing and approving all hours worked by employees are accurate in the time card system. **Qualifications** + High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required. + Preferred 2-4-year college or technical degree preferred. + Five years of manufacturing experience, with at least two years' experience as a leader and/or supervisor. + Six Sigma Certification and or training Preferred 3-4 years' experience with Husky or other type of injection molding Machines + Ability to organize and prioritize work activities for self and others, and to handle multiple projects simultaneously + Ability to utilize a variety of computer software (Microsoft products preferred) + Excellent communication, investigation, coaching and mentoring skills + Equal amounts of time spent sitting, standing, bending, and lifting/moving.
