CDL Driver Job At Sherwin-Williams
This position is responsible for delivering products to customers from Sherwin-Williams stores using box and flat-bed trucks. Drivers ensure deliveries are complete, packed correctly, and safely delivered to the correct customer. Drivers are accountable for customer satisfaction and for transporting items in a safe, timely manner. The individual selected for this role will be expected to work at Store #1828, located at: 689 Old State Rt. 74 Cincinnati, OH 45245 Full-Time $17/HR
Job duties involve contact with customers, which may include minors; and access to cash and other payment methods, electronic equipment, personal information, store merchandise and other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company's customers, staff, employees, vendors, contractors, and the general public.
Minimum Requirements:
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
Must have a valid, unrestricted Driver's License
Must have a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate (MEC) from a Department of Transportation (DOT) licensed "medical examiner" listed on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) National Registry or be willing to obtain one within five business days of receiving a conditional offer of employment
Must be able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to retrieve material from shelves and floor stacks and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 70 lbs. on occasion.

Preferred Qualifications:
Have at least a High School diploma or GED
Have at least one (1) year experience working as a delivery driver
Have at least one (1) year of work experience using material handling equipment (for example: forklifts (stand and sit), pallet jacks, hand trucks, order pickers, vacu-hoists, drum dollys, conveyor belts, etc.)
Have previous work experience selling paint and paint related products
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in more than one language
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in Spanish
Ensure deliveries are prepared to meet customer requirements in the most efficient manner
Load customer orders properly on the truck
Ensure appropriate forms are completed
Load, transport, and deliver items to customers in a safe, timely manner
Maintain the store vehicle and alert the supervisor to repair and servicing needs
Provide excellent customer service, answer questions, and handle complaints from customers
Adhere to assigned routes and following time schedules
Abide by all transportation laws and maintaining a safe driving record
Prepare reports and other documents relating to deliveries
Operate equipment and machines, such as cars, trucks, forklifts, etc.
Perform other tasks in the store, including warehouse duties, tinting, and mixing customer orders and waiting on customers

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
The Driver Lead will play a crucial role in coordinating daily distributions, ensuring safe and timely deliveries of quality products to customer stores in a professional and cost-effective manner. This position involves running routes, training new drivers, and supporting the Distribution Supervisor.
Ensure compliance with all operational processes by overseeing daily tasks such as manifests, FER's, DOT logs, and driver issue logs.
Facilitate training and provide ongoing coaching to drivers in accordance with established guidelines and Best Practices.
Monitor the fleet of trucks daily to ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance for efficient delivery operations.
Uphold safety standards and regulations including health, HACCP, and OSHA requirements by leading safety meetings, reporting hazardous conditions, and adhering to Best Practices.
Manage vehicle crash and worker compensation reporting procedures, assisting drivers in completing incident reports and coordinating with Fleet Response as necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to support team objectives and organizational goals
What You'll Need (Qualifications)
Compliance with DOT regulations and possession of a valid Driver's License in the state of residence.
Strong teamwork abilities with effective communication skills to interact with CDC customers and colleagues.
Maintenance of a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) within company-established guidelines.
Availability to work weekends, holidays, or as needed to support the 24/7 business operations.
Minimum age requirement of 21 years.
Minimum 3 years of verifiable box truck driving experience.

Position Purpose:
Food and food service delivery Drivers fulfill a critical role in the country's food supply chain. Our delivery drivers not only make sure the customers' products arrive at their destination at the arranged times and in good condition, but they are the face of our company - building lasting relationships with our customers!
The Driver, Trainee Non-Formula is an entry level driver training role. Associates in this role will learn and/or gain experience in hauling freight and operating tractor trailers while assisting designated driver trainers with their deliveries and routes. Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company.
Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
Performs Driver Assistant/Helper duties for a minimum of three (3) months*; obtains a CDL learners permit within 3 months; performs cross training duties in warehouse and sales to get an understanding of the business.
Once obtains Class A CDL will begin training; successfully completes Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program as required.
Rides-with and assists driver trainer in executing deliveries as required.
Performs all required safety checks (i.e., pre/post trip) including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations; inspect tractor/truck and trailer to insure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed.
Report all safety issues and/or repairs required.
Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies.
Immediately reports all safety hazards.
Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight. Performs count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded.
Checks and complete in an accurate and in legible fashion all required paperwork associated with freight.
Moves tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed.
Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule. Unloads products from the trailer, transport items into designated customer storage areas.
Performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy. Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures.
Collects money (cash or checks) where required. Loads customer returns on to trailer and secure trailer doors. Unloads damaged goods and customer returns and bring to the driver check-in and complete necessary paperwork.
Unloads all equipment, materials and remove trash from trailers as required.
Completes daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
*Upon successful completion of the three (3) month period, the candidate will be enrolled in the first available accredited CDL class and remain employed as a Driver Assistant until a valid Class A CDL license and medical card have been issued.
Qualification:
High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
Internal Candidates: 6 months of service in good standing as outlined in the PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program, able to attain CDL Permit and DOT Health Card
External Driver School Direct Hire: 0-6 months experience with a CDL Permit
External Entry Level Hire: Valid Driver's license with good driving record; ability to obtain within 3 months a Valid CDL Class A Permit and pass DOT physical
