Duties During the course of their careers, Uniformed Division Officers carry out assignments in protection. Duties include: Providing protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area. Traveling in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions. Our Uniformed Division's mission is to protect facilities and venues secured for U.S. Secret Service protectees. It also provides security for the Treasury Department building and foreign diplomatic missions in Washington, D.C. The Uniformed Division also has specialized teams including Counter Sniper, Emergency Response, K-9, and more. Requirements U.S. citizenship is required. Possess a current valid U.S. driver's license. Be at least age 20 and less than age 37 at the time you receive a conditional offer of employment, unless you have previous service in a Federal Civilian Law Enforcement position covered by special law enforcement or firefighter retirement provisions, including early or mandatory retirement. Trainees must complete the two-week Jail Management course within the six-month probationary period. During that time, employees are assigned to work with a training officer. Upon successful completion of the probationary period, which includes completion of the Jail Management course, the Trainee will attain permanent status and be appointed to the Municipal Jail Corrections Officer (MJCO) classification. Major work functions of the class are: patrolling cell blocks, securing and delivering items to inmates; observing and directing inmates in work assignments; processing inmates; and enforcing department rules and regulations.
