Role and Responsibilities:
+ **Education and Assistance:** Provides support to end users by learning and assisting with day-to-day IT tasks, troubleshooting basic hardware and software issues, and responding to user inquiries. Training will be provided as part of this short-term internship.
+ **Asset Management:** Assists in managing desktop peripheral inventory and supports asset management processes. Maintains accurate records for device updates or changes, including installations or relocations, to ensure the inventory system remains up to date.
+ **System Support:** Gains exposure to evaluating IT products for compatibility, usability, and operational flexibility. Assists with documenting and designing options to support integration with existing systems.
+ **Hardware and Software Installation** : Participates in the installation and configuration of hardware and software applications to meet end-user needs. Training will focus on developing skills in imaging, deployment, and basic troubleshooting.
+ This internship is designed to provide practical experience in IT support while fostering growth and hands-on learning. Interns will work under supervision and gradually take on responsibilities as they gain knowledge and confidence.
**Clinical Engineering (1): Hybrid- Onsite/Remote position**
Role and Responsibilities
+ Assist with a variety of functions to support the Clinical Engineering department in supporting medical devices and their associated IT systems across the Healthcare system.
+ Tasks will include learning about new clinical systems, creating documentation and compiling data to be used for equipment replacement planning, assisting with implementing new technology, assessing and addressing cybersecurity risks in medical devices, and developing departmental processes. This position will assist with all aspects of Clinical Engineering, including device integration with IT systems and managing the full lifecycle of medical devices.
+ This is a hybrid position being able to work remotely but may include travel to other sites to support hospitals and clinics. The intern will work under close supervision of a Clinical Engineering tech as most work requires technical expertise and sometimes certifications, however, we will seek opportunities to provide some autonomy.
**Enterprise Analytics and Data Services - Data Science (1 positions): Remote**
Role and Responsibilities

+ Tasks will include learning about new systems, creating documentation, compiling data, creating reports, assisting team members with various projects; using security tools to help with risk assessments.

Must be student nurse pursuing licensure. Functioning as a member of the Care Delivery Team, the Patient Care Assistant (PCA) Student nurse extern provides basic patient care and activities of daily living under the direct supervision of the RN team leader. Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Knowledge of nursing practices and procedures at a normally acquired through high school and through nursing classes.
2. Requires the completion of a two-week Nurse Aide Training Program and achievement of a passing grade on the State of Ohio Test for Nurse Aides through the Ohio Department of Health; this requirement may be completed after being hired. Should the individual not be state tested, they must have completed the 1st year of clinicals from an accredited registered nursing program.
3. Generally requires three- four weeks of orientation and approximately three to six months related work experience in order to function independently.
4. Communication skills (written, verbal, and nonverbal) necessary in order to relate well with people of varying backgrounds including patients, family and staff.

Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center is excited to offer selected nursing students the opportunity to gain clinical competence and ease the transition from student to professional through a special summer program.
During the Nurse Externship Program, students are assigned to preceptors who are experienced Registered Nurses chosen for their excellence in practice. Externs participate in a number of clinical experiences and attend special seminars designed to enhance their practice. Externs are assigned to areas that match their personal interests and will complete clinical rotations.
The Mercy Health Summer Nurse Externship Program is an eight-week, summer program from June 2, 2025, to July 25, 2025.
Externs will receive a stipend while in the program and are expected to work the designated schedule with an assigned preceptor, following their work schedule. Externs are also expected to attend all required educational experiences.

Performs tasks and procedures independently after successful performance with a RN or ONLY under the direct supervision and responsibility of a RN including but not limited to changing peripheral IV site dressings, phlebotomy, removal of peripheral IV's, inserting and/or removing urinary catheters, performing simple trach care, administering non-medicated enemas, performing oral suctioning, changing ostomy appliances and performing ostomy care, and assisting with transferring patients to a higher level of care.
