Summary

The three-year CHS Finance Shared Services Rotational Program provides an opportunity to grow professionally, gaining knowledge and experience through on-the-job training in three, 12-month rotations. Rotations include but are not limited to: Corporate Order to Cash, Procure to Pay and Grain Settlements process flows. Each assignment will allow participants to build strong finance and accounting foundational skills, partnerships with a variety of leaders, and broad networks across CHS.
New associates entering the Finance Shared Services Rotational Program will begin in June of 2025 and will join CHS with an incoming cohort for the program.

Work with grant writers and client for input and edits on grants
Create and review budgets and make recommendations for grant alignment with funders' priorities. Responsible for attaining the most current and approved budget (and financial attachments) to be sent with any grant
Compile, write and edit LOIs grant applications, letters and queries exhibiting strong expository writing skills and a high-level command of grammar and spelling. Responsible for editing all work before passed on for final edits, approval
Develop individual grant proposals in accordance with each grant-making organization's preferences and follow exactly each funders guidelines, ensure proper and thorough research has been completed
Develop and exhibit understanding of who grant funders are, and what they fund in MN
Develop relationships with funders
Stays current and involved with institutional and corporate program officers
Ensure that JMA staff maintains contact with funders
Manage the process of providing progress reports when required (as assigned)
Key Responsibilities: Community Engagement
Implement an annual work plan to achieve individual-giving goals, including:
Write and execute corporate engagement and development plans
Provide engagement strategies for increased revenue
New and existing donor engagement strategies to increase funding from current and lapsed donors, with a keen focus on moves management
Build relationships with corporate and institutional donors
Build and manage relationships with all types of donors through personalized cultivation and outreach efforts including in-person meetings, event invitations, and regular communication and acquisition/stewardship efforts.
Identify and create cultivation strategies for top prospects; implement these strategies in conjunction with the client's President/Executive Director, Advancement Director, Board of Directors.
Experience/Qualifications
4-6 years of experience working with nonprofit organization(s); grant writing/fundraising experience preferred
Demonstrated understanding of Fund Development and Communications
Demonstrated knowledge of regional and national institutional giving and public sector RFPs, submission process with a special focus on state and federal government agencies
Contacts or knowledge of area program officers and grant makers
Defined specialties grant writing - for example: youth development; education; mental health; nutrition
Background in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or similar degree desired
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
Proven organizational skills including the ability to maintain data management systems, prioritize projects, meet multiple deadlines and work with teams
Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite with a working knowledge of web content management systems, design software, donor tracking interfaces and digital marketing tools

Overtime: (over 40 hours per week) paid at a rate of time and a half.
Employee Safe and Sick Time (ESST) & Paid Time Off (PTO) - ESST/PTO will begin accruing upon hire. All employees will earn ESST/PTO at a rate of 0.0909 per hour worked. This equates to earning 1 hour of ESST/PTO for every 11 hours worked. Employees may choose to use their ESST/PTO award for mental or physical illness, treatment or preventative care; a family member's mental or physical illness, treatment or preventative care; absence due to domestic abuse, sexual assault or stalking of the employee or a family member; death in an employee's immediate family; closure of the employee's workplace due to weather or public emergency or closure of a family member's school or care facility due to weather or public emergency; when determined by a health authority or health care professional that the employee or a family member is at risk of infecting others with a communicable disease; vacation days; and holidays.

Healthcare reimbursement in the amount of $250.00 per month for an individual plan is available if you are the “primary” on your plan ($250 per month = $3,000.00 per year for insurance). Healthcare in the amount of $500.00 per month for a family plan is available if you are the “primary” on your family plan ($500 per month = $6,000 per year for insurance).
