Responsibilities
Marketing Communication Responsibilities:
Execute marketing projects to align internal stakeholder inputs, interface with external agencies to deliver brand marketing projects according to schedule, budget, and compliance requirements.
Work with Marketing, Professional and Academic Affairs as well as leverage other internal and/or external resources, to drive the development of marketing assets through facilitation, scheduling, tracking and progress reporting.
Collaborate with Marketing Communication peers to effectively leverage organizational resources, share best practices, and drive a consistent approach to execution.
With brand and Professional and Academic Affairs input, collaborate with internal stakeholders and external agencies to lead development and execution of brand campaigns, tactics, messaging, and claims.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, especially the brand marketing, sales and marketing communication team, to develop and work with key members of the team or agency partners in the execution of B2B, B2C and B2B2C materials, aligning with brand and messaging guidelines.
Marketing Process Ownership and Responsibilities:
Manage existing marketing materials, which consists of entering new assets into the digital asset management (DAM) repository, incorporating guidance on any necessary changes or updates to the materials.
Understand and execute day to day processes that are part of company's communication process (e.g., Ad Promo review, claims management, posting materials to DAM, etc.).
Responsible for budgeting/accounting of projects from PO initiation through timely invoicing by vendors and payment by company. Manage individual project budgets and provide input on costing to overall budget, working with finance.
Responsible for ensuring accurate use of approved marketing claims wording in the promotional materials, and asset compliance with global regulatory & legal standards, through coordination with the compliance SOP and Ad Promo team.
Track measurement of promotional activity/programs and share learnings with broader marketing organization.
In partnership with the digital team, you will be involved in:
Managing and optimizing the company's online presence, including website content, social media profiles, and online advertising.
Monitoring and reporting on the performance of marketing campaigns, using data-driven insights to refine strategies and achieve KPIs.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, required.
7+ years of marketing experience, direct to consumer and/or B2B2C experience is preferred.
Prior experience in project management is required.
Prior experience as account executive in creative agencies is preferred.
Experience in regulated or life sciences industry, would be an asset.
Experience working with marketing automation and CRM platforms would be an asset.
Demonstrated ability to manage/coordinate multiple projects within budget, under tight deadlines for different stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving and prioritization skills and ability to meet changing requirements.
Team player experienced working with various functional areas in a matrix organization.
Demonstrated advanced writing/proof reading skills.
Understands the technical aspects of marketing communication (e.g., print, multimedia, and digital formats).
Demonstrated knowledge of digital marketing strategy and tactical execution to inform and execute multi-touch brand campaigns, ability to analyze reporting and make data-driven adjustments.
Self-motivated, well-organized, and able to work independently to lead and drive projects forward.

COMPENSATION
Butler/Till is committed to providing pay transparency of our compensation philosophy and ensuring equitable pay practices for our employee owners. The compensation range for this position is $113,000 - $158,000 and represents the annual salary range in Rochester, NY. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience.
This is just one component of Butler/Till's total compensation package for employee owners. The position is responsible for all aspects of the firm's business development, marketing communications and events efforts. The Director of Marketing and Business Development is ultimately responsible for creating and implementing innovative business development and marketing strategies that will build the organization's brand-leading to increased awareness, relevance and respect with their target markets-and drive revenue growth. The position is based in the firm's Rochester office and reports to the Chief Operating Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
Brand Management:
Understand and enhance the firm's brand identity through innovative campaigns and initiatives that drive awareness and engagement.
Lead the firm's marketing and business development efforts including the development of a differentiation (brand) strategy. Align the department resources to implement the firm's Strategic Plan and practice group business plans with strong bias to action and results.
Business Development:
Work with Departments and attorneys to develop and implement effective business development plans utilizing thorough market research and analytics to identify opportunities.
Provide lawyer training on effective business development strategies appropriate for their level of experience.
Manage, develop and refine processes and procedures relating to the business development and marketing "infrastructure.” Ensure quality review and controls are in place.
Manage systems and processes to track, measure and report business development and marketing initiatives.
Manage the priorities of the marketing and business development department on a day-to-day basis. Ensure their activities are aligned with the firm's and practice groups' priorities.
Implement measurable integrated marketing strategies that will drive revenue goals and increase awareness in the markets the firm serves. Drive such opportunities from concept to execution.
Increase the firm's visibility in targeted industries and practice areas, as defined in the firm's strategic plan.
Collaboration with Practice Groups:
Work closely with attorneys across various practice areas to ensure marketing and business development strategies align with business goals and support client development efforts.
Create a center of marketing and business development excellence within the firm, setting group priorities, service level expectations, quality control measures and internal performance feedback mechanisms
Provide input and guidance to the business development directors/managers in the formulation and implementation of business development plans for their respective practice groups, industry teams and lawyers in their groups.
Foster the attorneys' pursuit of expanded and new client relationships through effective networking opportunities, branding, thought leadership, growth planning, media relations, sponsorships and other integrated marketing initiatives.
Collaborate with practice groups and offices to develop consistent client-focused marketing and communication strategies.
Digital Marketing Oversight:
Oversee the firm's website updates to ensure a dynamic and user-friendly online presence.
Oversee digital marketing efforts, including advertising and promotional activities across various platforms.
Manage the firm's ongoing podcast.
Public Relations Management:
Oversee all public relations activity aimed at enhancing the firm's reputation and visibility in the legal community and beyond, including press releases, client alerts and newsletters, etc.
Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and establish relationships with key media representatives to facilitate coverage of the firm's achievements and initiatives.
Client Event Management:
Coordinate and manage all client events, webinars, seminars, and parties.
Sponsorship Oversight:
Manage the firm's sponsorship activities, identifying opportunities that align with the firm's brand and values.
Coordinate sponsorships for events, organizations, and community initiatives, ensuring maximum exposure and engagement.
Budget Management:
Manage the marketing budget, allocating resources effectively to maximize return on investment (ROI) for all marketing initiatives.
Strategic Insights:
Provide guidance to management on marketing insights, challenges, and emerging opportunities in the legal landscape.
Assist in identifying and capitalizing on cross-selling opportunities.
Manage the Firm's client satisfaction initiative.
Develop and manage the marketing budgets and track expenses to meet budget goals.
Oversee the selection and implementation of a CRM system. Introduce the technology in phases, first to marketing and then to the lawyers.
Creative Design Execution:
Utilize tools like Canva, Constant Contact, and similar programs to produce compelling marketing materials and communications.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Proven track record of success in senior marketing roles, preferably within the legal field.
Extensive experience in developing and implementing strategic marketing plans that yield results.
Strong leadership abilities to inspire and motivate attorneys toward achieving shared objectives.
Deep knowledge of market research, legal industry dynamics, and marketing analytics.
Exceptional communication, writing, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Creative thinker with strong analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities.
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
Ability to win the respect and confidence of the firm's lawyers, staff, colleagues, clients and vendors. Operate at a peer level with the partners, practice group leaders and other leaders of the firm.
Extensive knowledge of creating and executing integrated marketing communications plans including, but not limited to: brand development, marketing planning, social media, traditional media, advertising, PR, design, event planning, sponsorships and other critical aspects to marketing and business development.
Ability to develop ideas and partnerships with attorneys to help them reach the highest business development functionality.
Working knowledge of a wide range of marketing disciplines including brand management, advertising, database marketing, market research and competitive intelligence, and public relations/communications.
Ability to respond effectively to market direction, client needs, major competitor positions and new product/service offering; ability to effectively incorporate this information into broad-based strategic and tactical marketing initiatives.
Technologically savvy and comfortable working with the IT department in devising and implementing new strategies and systems. Experience with SharePoint and CRM systems desired. Proficiency with the Microsoft suite of products required.
The demonstrated ability to manage outside vendors and negotiate favorable pricing and contracts.
