Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Manager - Maintenance & Plant Engineering to lead and oversee maintenance operations and plant engineering initiatives in our heavy industrial forging facility. Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance Leadership:
Direct and manage all maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
Develop and implement predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance programs.
Coordinate with production teams to align maintenance schedules with operational priorities.
Plant Engineering:
Oversee engineering projects related to equipment upgrades, facility improvements, and process optimization.
Design and implement solutions to enhance equipment performance and extend asset life.
Provide technical expertise and support for troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
Team Management:

Regulatory Compliance and Safety:
Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Work collaboratively with departments and safety teams to reduce hazards and mitigate safety risks.
Drive initiatives to improve workplace safety and reduce operational risks.
Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for incidents and equipment failures.
Continuous Improvement:
Lead initiatives to improve energy efficiency, reduce waste, and support sustainability goals.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.

Qualifications:
Education: Undergraduate Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field required).
Experience:
Minimum 10 years of experience in maintenance and plant engineering within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
Previous leadership experience in a unionized shop is essential.
Strong background in forging or similar heavy industry preferred.
Technical Skills:
Expertise in maintenance management systems, PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, and power systems.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, and Six Sigma principles.

Experience with Managing for Daily Improvement (MDI, aka Lean Mfg Visual Daily Management, aka Tier 1-4 Boards); Project Management Office (PMO, aka more complicated Productivity & Equipment Reliability Improvement projects); CapX Project generation and execution for both short-term tactical and also strategic projects; Predictive & Preventive Maintenance programs, including CMMS implementations and Daily/Weekly Planning standard work
Ability to Hire, onboard, and Train to fill current open roles and/or upgrade existing personnel.
Directs and coordinates all departmental activities related to the planning, justification and successful completion of all capital expenditures for all engineering projects. Controls expenditures within limitations for project budget.
Effectively coordinates, administers and supervises all activities of engineering projects in order to provide timely, economical and high-quality completion of the project in accordance with the overall plan.
Provides electrical and mechanical trouble shooting and engineering advice and consultation to all operations and maintenance activities.
Provides for the development of any plans or information essential to engineering projects (i.e., preliminary layout sketches, detailed electrical and mechanical calculations, drawings and schematics, capital appropriation justifications).
Plans and formulates engineering programs including the assignment of project personnel to specific phases or aspects of projects in accordance with project requirements.
Tracks and monitors each project's progression to determine compliance with engineering principles, company standards and related specifications, quickly intervening to resolve any problem which would prohibit the timely and successful completion of the project. Prepares interim and completion project reports.
Oversees installation to ensure machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.
Determines the need for specialized or technical services from outside sources in the event of breakdowns, obtains approval and contacts equipment manufacturers when required.
Analyzes causes of accidents and injuries within area of responsibility and implements corrective actions.
Takes all necessary measures to protect company property and equipment in the event of an emergency situation and sees that all Engineering personnel are thoroughly prepared to effectively carry out emergency actions and programs if needed.
