    The Senior Technical Manager position in the Controls Systems Engineering (CS) organization reports to the Mechanical Test (MT) Sr Director and is responsible for providing comprehensive test services and solutions to our customers. Our main customers include the Honeywell Engineering and Integrated Supply Chain (Production, and Repair and Overhaul) organizations. We provide test services for research, development, qualification, certification, production, and repair and overhaul (R&O) testing of components and systems. Some of the components and systems tested include actuators, starters, valves, generators, cabin pressure systems, etc. This leadership role is responsible for providing safe and quality test services; demonstrating test ownership; aligning test resources and driving test execution and performance to meet customer requirements; developing our test resources and capabilities; and driving standard work of the test methodology, equipment, process, and practices. This leadership role will manage/oversee the day-to-day test operations of the test engineering organization in Tempe which includes test engineers, program managers, engineering support specialist, and technicians. This role has 36 direct reports and coordinates closely with the MT Tempe test operations supervisor to execute test services for customers. In addition, this leadership role will act as the overall site's senior MT leader and will be a member of the Tempe Engineering Site Leadership Council. We are seeking candidates with demonstrated management and technical capability, broad expertise in laboratory testing technologies, and strong leadership skills. What You'll Do: Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to understand program needs and interpret the needs into the program scope, plan, and execution Analyze system and segment level requirements and allocate to appropriate level of test Work with segment teams to coordinate delivery, installation, integration, and test activities Lead creation of test strategy, test plan, and requirement matrices Track, investigate, and disposition issues with customers and stakeholders Provide requirements for testing and automation tools needed to support the integration, test, and analysis of products under test Lead the creation and management of project backlogs with input from all stakeholders What You'll Need to Succeed: Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline required 8+ years of relevant experience in aerospace or telecommunication industries In-depth knowledge of systems engineering methodologies and processes to include requirements definition, requirement allocation, system analyses, system trades, system verification, and anomaly resolution Practical understanding of Agile development and test methodologies Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information to cross-departmental groups or those unfamiliar with the topic The ability to easily build relationships with leadership and colleagues outside of your team The ability to prioritize your own tasks and potentially the tasks of others while making sure deadlines are met A strong desire to learn, ask questions, take feedback, and incorporate new knowledge Demonstrated ability to solve technical problems, make decisions, and to prioritize and organize complex workflow involving multiple inter-related parallel efforts Proven track record of being a hands-on self-starter, capable of working effectively both independently and as part of a team Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table: Knowledge of telephony, cellular and/or satellite communications A strong knowledge of RF hardware, test equipment, design, and philosophy Experience testing in the Agile Software Development methodology Working knowledge of Linux We'll Also Need You To: Willing and able to travel up to 15 days annually Willing and able to be on-call to support operational issues This position directly performs under, supports, or is exposed to a U.S. government contract. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer.
