Duties
During the course of their careers, Uniformed Division Officers carry out assignments in protection. Duties include:
Providing protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area.
Traveling in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions.
Enforcing mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.
Our Uniformed Division's mission is to protect facilities and venues secured for U.S. Secret Service protectees. Throughout its history, the Uniformed Division has accomplished this mission through individuals who embody honor, integrity and a commitment to excellence.
Today, the Uniformed Division has grown both in size and scope of responsibility and is mandated by law to provide physical security for the White House Complex and the vice president's residence at the Naval Observatory. It also provides security for the Treasury Department building and foreign diplomatic missions in Washington, D.C. The Uniformed Division also has specialized teams including Counter Sniper, Emergency Response, K-9, and more.
Requirements
U.S. citizenship is required.
Possess a current valid U.S. driver's license.
Be at least age 20 and less than age 37 at the time you receive a conditional offer of employment, unless you have previous service in a Federal Civilian Law Enforcement position covered by special law enforcement or firefighter retirement provisions, including early or mandatory retirement. Applicants with veteran's preference must receive a conditional offer of employment prior to reaching age 40 to continue in the application process.
Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory.
Possess uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular. Possess corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye.
Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 25 decibels (A.S.A. or equivalent I.S.O.) in either ear in the 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz ranges. Applicants must be able to hear the whispered voice at 15 feet with each ear without the use of a hearing aid.
Submit to a drug test prior to your appointment and random drug testing while you occupy the position.
Complete 12 weeks of intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA or Artesia, NM and 17 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel, MD.

Communicate effectively, in person and/or by radio or telephone.
Mediate disputes in civil or criminal matters, using sound judgment.
Perform crowd and riot control activities, including evacuation.
Protect crime and traffic accident scenes; conduct law enforcement investigations; conduct interviews, record information; measure and diagram crime and traffic accident scenes; dictate detailed reports of investigative findings, complete all appropriate paperwork; seize and process evidence; present testimony and evidence in both civil and criminal court proceedings.

In lieu of attending the Public Safety Academy, applicants who are currently certified as a peace officer in another state may be eligible to obtain the AZ POST certification through the waiver process. To be eligible for this process, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Position Specific Summary
The Police Officer position at the City of Tucson's Police Department protects life and property through the enforcement of criminal laws, education, crime prevention, and communication. This position partners with the community through patrolling routes, responding to emergency situations and complaints, and collision investigations.
Work is performed under the supervision of a police sergeant. This position does not supervise.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Responds to routine and emergency calls by contacting the reporting person and witnesses, and determining the nature of the call, and action to be taken. Conducts follow-up investigations and makes arrests when appropriate. Investigates crimes by interviewing witnesses and victims, dusting for fingerprints, gathering, tagging and storing evidence, taking photographs, confirming status of stolen property, initiating recovery procedures, and preparing reports. Acts in a higher capacity temporarily as needed by directing other officers at a crime scene.
* Performs patrol duties by traveling through designated areas, searching for suspicious, hazardous, or criminal activity, conducting field interviews with suspected offenders, and making arrests when appropriate. Enforces criminal and traffic laws by conducting traffic stops and issuing warnings and/or citations.
* Completes incident and statistical reports. Trains officers in field procedures, decision making, and police tactics. Attends court to testify about involvement in work related to criminal investigations. Attends regular in-service trainings to maintain police certifications, improve proficiency with police related tools and tactics, and implement new concepts in policing.
* Educates the community by teaching classes at schools, conducting block watch meetings, making public presentations, and answering inquiries regarding legal and safety issues. Assists with crime prevention by attending public meetings and sharing crime trends.
* Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned. Occasionally coordinates the work of interns, volunteers or temporary employees.
Working Conditions
This position involves indoor and outdoor work with heavy exposure to extreme physical, ergonomic, or emotional hazards. Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays. May be required to work mandatory overtime.

Tour post periodically to ensure the safety of patrons, staff, vendors, participants, and others on premises.
Handle any disturbances or problems that arise during an event or at the facility. If necessary, escort disruptive individual(s) to the security office and/or off the premises.
Write incident reports and meet with security supervisor to review procedures.
Tour facility, examining doors, windows, and gates to ensure they are secure.
Assist with crowd control inside and outside of premises when necessary.

The Security Guard position provides support for a U.S Department of Labor Job Corps contractor. The Job Corps program is a federally-funded residential training program. The mission of Job Corps is to provide career-based technical and academic training and job placement assistance to program eligible youth ages 16-24.
Summary of Duties:
The Security Officer is responsible for the day to day functions of center safety compliance with Job Corps program requirements, corporate guidelines and federal, state, and local regulations; to create and preserve an environment where Center's staff, students, visitors are safe and well-protected.
Key Areas of Responsibilities:
Under the leadership of the Security/Safety Manager and the Senior Security Officer, implements security policies, protocols and procedures.
Ensures safety and security of students, staff and facilities.
Makes physical inspections and security checks of grounds and facility.
Reports fires and other adverse conditions and assists in suppressing fires or remedying adverse conditions.
Responds to and investigates center intrusion.
Controls disturbances and assists staff in de-escalating potentially volatile situations.
Ensures the rights of all individuals are protected.
Completes required security logs, documents and records accurately and in a timely manner.
Responsible for signing visitors in and out of the center and performing safety checks/inspections of bags and other items.
Follows established guidelines and procedures for staff, student and visitors entering and exiting the campus.
