Duties
During the course of their careers, Uniformed Division Officers carry out assignments in protection. Duties include:
Providing protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area.
Traveling in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions.
Enforcing mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.
Our Uniformed Division's mission is to protect facilities and venues secured for U.S. Secret Service protectees. Throughout its history, the Uniformed Division has accomplished this mission through individuals who embody honor, integrity and a commitment to excellence.
Today, the Uniformed Division has grown both in size and scope of responsibility and is mandated by law to provide physical security for the White House Complex and the vice president's residence at the Naval Observatory. It also provides security for the Treasury Department building and foreign diplomatic missions in Washington, D.C. The Uniformed Division also has specialized teams including Counter Sniper, Emergency Response, K-9, and more.

Possess a current valid U.S. driver's license.
Be at least age 20 and less than age 37 at the time you receive a conditional offer of employment, unless you have previous service in a Federal Civilian Law Enforcement position covered by special law enforcement or firefighter retirement provisions, including early or mandatory retirement. Principal Accountabilities
* Police officers for the Department of Public Safety operate on shifts twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year and are subject to be called back to duty at any time, regardless of their days off or other leave, including vacation.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
The successful applicant will receive salary and benefits that compare favorably with those offered in business or industry. The starting salary range based on experience, relative to the most current collective bargaining agreement, will be $35.30/hr. ($73,424). Salary progresses incrementally to $52/hr. ($108,160). OPOTC Certified candidates' starting salary will be equivalent to their most recent salary as a full-time Police Officer. Candidates who are not certified will be hired as Police Recruits with a salary of $26.48/hr. ($55,068) while attending the Police Academy. 2. Written Examination

3. Physical Fitness Assessment

Non-Certified applicants who pass the written examination will be invited
to attend a physical fitness assessment consisting of push-ups, sit-ups, and a 1.5 mile
run as required by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission. Passing benchmarks
will be the 30% level of the Cooper Standards based on the applicant's age and sex.
This test is pass/fail and does not contribute to the overall ranking list. The
date/time/location for the test will be determined.
Applicants that fail to achieve the 30th percentile of the Cooper Standards cannot re-apply or re-test for 6 months from the date of the test.
4. Structured Oral Interview
The interview panel will interview all certified applicants with more than one year of service as a full-time law enforcement officer and non-certified applicants who pass the written and Physical Fitness tests. The interview will take place at the Beavercreek Police Department (Date and Time - To Be Determined). The interview will cover areas that include but are not limited to decision making, interpersonal skills, administrative skills, motivation and initiative. This interview has a maximum score of 100%. Applicants must obtain a minimum score of 70% to pass this interview. Applicants who get a 69% or below will not be eligible for reconsideration for one year. At the conclusion of the interviews, all applicants remaining that obtained a score of 70% or greater will be ranked based on the structured interview score only. After the ranking, and dependent on the number of vacancies, candidates will be moved on to the next phase of the hiring process.
5. Background Investigation / Pre-employment Polygraph Examination
Those candidates who advance to this phase must submit three (3) letters of recommendation prior to advancing to the Chief Oral Interview. Letters must be currently dated (no older than 6 months), signed and contain the address of the person writing the letter. Letters will not be accepted from any relative such as a spouse, parent, etc.
A background investigation/pre-employment polygraph examination will be conducted on the top three applicants, or an amount as determined by the Chief, after the structured interview phase. Some areas of this investigation may include:
Verification of a candidate's qualifying credentials
A review of the candidate's criminal and traffic violation record, if any
An interview with at least three personal references of the applicant
Verification of the applicant's previous employment history
The polygraph results will not be the single determinant of employment status. It is only an investigative aid that will be used together with other information to support decisions relevant to employment status. Refer to form entitled, Clearance Polygraph Information Guide, which will be provided upon notification of eligibility to participate in the Polygraph phase.
6. Chief's Oral Interview
Applicants who successfully complete the Background Investigation/Pre-Employment Polygraph Examination will be invited for an oral interview with the Chief of Police. The Chief of Police may choose any number of applicants to interview from the eligibility list depending on the number of current or anticipated vacancies. The Chief may also choose not to conduct interviews until a vacancy occurs.
If an applicant is chosen, the Chief of Police will forward a recommendation to the City Manager for consideration. If a conditional offer of employment is extended to the applicant, they will participate in the remaining phases of the hiring process. Should the applicant fail to pass any remaining phases of the conditional offer of employment, they will be eliminated from the hiring process.
Should an applicant be considered twice for vacant positions but not selected, the City shall have the authority to remove the applicant from the eligibility list. Any candidate that is not offered a conditional offer of employment after the Chief's Oral Interview will not be considered for a period of two years from the date of notification that they are removed from the eligibility list.

The Campus Police Officer is responsible for protecting persons and property in and around the Medical Center. He/She will make periodic rounds checking for evidence of fire, safety hazards, or illegal activities. He/She will respond to emergencies and provide service as needed on Campus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* The Campus Police Officer must be a self starter.
* Monitors activities in and around building and grounds of the medical center campus including, parking lots, loading docks, and other medial center owned property, or work sites to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry and vagrants.
* Provides surveillance and protection of Medical Center patients, employee's., staff, visitors in a timely manner.
* Confronts unauthorized persons for questioning and prevents escalation of security incidents and civil disturbances.
* Responsible for becoming familiar with departmental policies and procedures and enforces hospital policies, such as but not limited to: Loitering, smoking in unauthorized locations, unauthorized removal of hospital property which may includes apprehending or physically expelling persons engage in suspicious or criminal acts when appropriate.
* Report any unusual conditions or malfunctions in heating, plumbing or electrical systems, including all exterior lighting that is not functioning properly.
* Responds to calls for assistance and protects staff and other innocent persons from being injured in a conflict or confrontation.
* Attempts to resolve the situation if able, and calls for assistance in situation beyond his/her control.
* Subdues or restrains any individual whose behavior warrants physical intervention on direction of a physician or RN in ER, or Mental
* Health Practitioner on any behavioral services unit, or any place where the patients is at the time of the incident. In the absence of a physician or RN use good judgments following the restraint and seclusion policy.
* Transport money and patient valuables for safe keeping and properly document all transactions in the appropriate location.
* Responds to emergency codes, disaster situations immediately, and know and carries out assigned duties as describe in the department or hospital polices. Follow on-call policy
* Keep a professional work area clean at all times, includes security vehicles.
* Control access to all urgent care areas at all times both external and internal.
* Maintains accurate and legible records of daily activities and all incidents. Completes records and reports thoroughly.
* Complies with and ensures uniform, personal hygiene identified in department and or medical center policies are met.
* Provide timely escort service to staff and visitors on campus property. Provide staff security during assigned lot duties .
* Make runs to off site locations on request when authorized.
* Perform all other duties as assigned in a professional and in a timely manner. Proper use of radio codes and radio etiquette at all times.
* Willingness to work over when necessary, also willingness to change plans with short notice when needed to provide adequate staffing. Understand and follow the vacation and staffing policy. Follow the call-in policy. Follow attendance guidelines for business meeting and training sessions. Understands shift specific duties and know where to get the information. Reads memos at the beginning of your shift. Understand court procedures for filing charges Have the ability to participate in P.I. initiatives need needed.

* In the absence of a physician or RN the officer must use good judgment according to the restraints and seclusion policy.
