LAW ENFORCEMENT ACADEMY RECRUIT: $28.51 hourly We are looking for strong candidates who aspire to become a Law Enforcement Deputy. Competitive candidates are encouraged to apply for a limited number of paid sponsorships to attend the upcoming law enforcement academy in August 2025. Recruits hired for sponsorship to the law enforcement academy will attend this the academy at the Manatee Technical College (MTC). This course is challenging both academically and physically. Upon completion of the six (6) month academy, recruits must pass the state exam to be sworn in as a certified Law Enforcement Deputy. Nature of Work Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is seeking to fill a vacancy of Security Specialist. Under the general direction of a Detention Sergeant, performs work of a responsible nature related to the security of the Pinellas County Jail facility and areas incorporated within the Department of Detention and Corrections. Members will be responsible for the care, custody, restraint and general welfare of inmates while off compound. Work is performed in accordance with the Sheriff's Office rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Program: CORT (Community Offender Rehabilitative Treatment) This program in partnership with Sarasota County Corrections, will provide a 40 bed secure residential behavioral health treatment for male offenders who are currently incarcerated in the Sarasota County Corrections Facility. The program will offer intensive supervision and evidenced-based rehabilitation to felony offenders up to 120 days who are incarcerated and awaiting sentencing as well as those who are directly sentenced to the program to serve out the remainder of their sentence. The overall goal is to provide treatment in a secure setting with a focus on substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders, change the client's criminal thinking patterns, stabilize their substance use and/or mental illness, and assist in the transition into the community through vocational training and peer support. The Security Specialist is responsible for performing security and safety functions within a cannabis cultivation facility. As a Security Specialist, you are responsible for providing critical security and administrative support to management. Security Specialists may be cross-trained and asked to support other departments occasionally to meet business needs.
