Overview

Communicates with supervisor, status of all assigned work orders.
Recognizes when others need assistance and offers to help. Assists individuals with information or directions whenever requested.
Contributes to meeting the fluctuating staffing needs of the department as evidenced by flexibility in own assignments and work schedules as evidenced by supervisor observation.
Follows all policies and procedures, annual mandatory in-services, required meetings, and all other conditions of employment are consistently met.

Education and Experience

Overview
The primary responsibility of the Campus Safety Officer is to be the first response to emergencies and other problems in the facility. Is responsible for assuring the general security of the facility and residents. Completes necessary physical plant repairs and routine work assignments. Follows all safety regulations and practices according to Duncaster policies and procedures.
Essential Functions
Performs two campus safety security rounding's per shift including vehicular patrols of all Duncaster properties, and documents in current security software.
Immediately reports any an all-emergency situation to the “On-Call” manager and other leadership staff as needed.
Responsible for installation, control, and performance of security lock down of entire facility as scheduled including locking all ground floor doors and windows and meeting all lockdown requirements.
Acts as a first responder to emergencies and other problems in facility and takes appropriate action.
Performs scheduled routine preventative maintenance as well as initial repairs and troubleshooting of resident and staff work orders and requests.
Communicates with supervisor, status of all assigned work orders.
Recognizes when others need assistance and offers to help. Assists individuals with information or directions whenever requested.
Contributes to meeting the fluctuating staffing needs of the department as evidenced by flexibility in own assignments and work schedules as evidenced by supervisor observation.
Follows all policies and procedures, annual mandatory in-services, required meetings, and all other conditions of employment are consistently met.

Education and Experience
High School Diploma or Equivalent is required
5 years of experience in general maintenance work is required.
Must have a valid Class D driver's license with no major violations or restrictions.
Must be able to read, write, speak, the English language in an understandable manner.

CONNECTICUT COLLEGE is hiring a part-time/on call (up to 16 hrs. /wk. scheduled), academic year (40 week), Campus Safety Officer. Additional on call hours will be required as needed by the department over the full year (52 weeks).Connecticut College is a highly selective, private, coeducational liberal arts college located in southern New England. Founded in 1911, the College enrolls 1900 students from 42 states and 70 countries. The 750-acre campus is an arboretum, and is supported by a staff and faculty of more than 800. The Campus Safety Department is a 24/7 on campus operation. Under direct supervision, the officers maintain security of persons and property at Connecticut College. Using standard operating procedures as a guide for performing duties, the officers perform routine security and safety patrol duties, remain alert to emergency situations and provide first-line response, and emergency management. As part of our daily operations, all campus Safety Officers will complete rotating shifts in the Dispatch Center. The Dispatcher Center is the 24/7 Communications and Resource Center for the Connecticut College Department of Campus Safety for any services, incidents, or emergencies that occur on campus.
General Duties and Responsibilities
* Maintain a high level of professionalism, honesty and integrity
* Be courteous and polite in all interaction with the community and perform all duties impartially
* Enforce all College rules and regulations
* Provide physical security of all college buildings, leased buildings, and property on and off campus
* Conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols to monitor and respond to security concerns
* Ensure visible presence in key areas, including residential halls, academic/non-academic buildings and common spaces
* Respond appropriately to emergency calls, conduct thorough preliminary investigations, assess situations, and assist or obtain necessary support services
* Prepare detailed reports of all investigations, complaints and calls for service performed
* Transport sick or injured students to the College Student Health Services when necessary
* Recognize and report all unsafe conditions; correct problem or report to responsible personnel
* Identify and remove any unauthorized person or vehicles from college property: including issuing parking tickets and moving violations
* Provide access to Residence Halls and Academic Buildings when necessary
Dispatch Responsibilities:
* Receive and respond to emergency and non-emergency calls
* Dispatch security personnel to incidents or locations as needed
* Monitor security cameras and alarms
* Maintain communication with on-duty officers
* Coordinate with other campus departments in emergency situations
* Track all activities of each shift: data entry of Daily Patrol Sheets/Activity logs.
* Responsible for key control and maintaining the key log.
* Submit work requests to Facilities Management for issues or problems identified during your shift.
Education and Skills
High school graduate with 2-5 years related experience needed; some college preferred. Must be able to write clear and concise reports, possess a valid Driver's License and have no prior criminal record; will be necessary to qualify in CPR and First Aid. Guard Card Certification required within the first 90 days of employment.

Position Requirements:
The duties and responsibilities of a Security Officer include, but are not limited to:
Patrols, both on foot and in a security vehicle, to ensure safety and security in or around campus buildings, facilities, and areas adjacent to the school sites.

Uses computers to send and receive email, write reports and other correspondence and to operate the door locking system.

Mitchell College seeks a Campus Safety Officer who will play a key role in the safety and wellbeing of Mitchell College students, faculty, staff and property through the education and enforcement of College policies and procedures. Campus Safety Officers respond to calls for assistance including emergency and crisis situations, and provide other services to the College community. Campus Safety Officers are assigned to security details for Mitchell College athletic events and social functions and may be required to work evenings and weekends as operationally necessary.
