Essential Functions (including but not limited to): Aviation Security Officers are trained for several different posts including those detailed below. Working in conjunction with the airport and government agencies, the main priority of each position is to ensure that we maintain compliance with local and federal regulations in respect to each of the following:
Aircraft Access Control: by assuring that only authorized personnel enter the aircraft while on the ground.
Aircraft Ramp Access Control: by providing AOA access control & safety oversight while aircraft is on the ground
Aircraft Search: by meticulously searching all areas of the aircraft according to company, and federal regulations to ensure the safety of travelers' pre-departure.
Baggage Security: by surveillance of bag room & baggage make up area to ensure no baggage is stolen or pilfered.
Catering Security: by providing surveillance at the catering kitchen, searching all catering equipment, and ensuring that nothing is tampered with in transit from the facilities to aircraft.
Passenger Verification: by providing exemplary customer service in airport terminal while making sure that all passengers have valid identification and are authorized to board flights
Qualifications/Requirements:
This position requires you to obtain Airport Badging and The Department of Homeland Security requires an extensive background check to obtain badging which include 10-year verifiable background check, including criminal, employment, credit, education, and personal references. Also, must be able to pass a Security Threat Assessment as administered by the Transportation Security Administration

The Longwood Police Department will be administering an employment entrance examination for qualified candidates on the following date: April 4, 2025. This examination process will be for developing an eligibility list for full time police officer positions. This process is open to all applicants who have successfully completed the Florida Basic Law Enforcement Recruit Academy and State Exam or currently enrolled in the Law Enforcement Recruit Academy with a completion date within 60 days of the exam date being a plus. A sworn law enforcement officer within the District Police portfolio is charged with delivering emergency management, law enforcement, school resource officer, K9 detection services, and safety and security services as assigned. As a state certified police officer within the OCPS District Police the incumbent is responsible for the investigation, pursuit, apprehension and arrest of law violators or suspected law violators. Employees in this class will be responsible for providing various law enforcement services and/or serving in assigned capacities within specialized law enforcement functions to facilities located throughout the District.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate degree from an accredited institution in criminal justice, public administration or related field or any equivalent combination of related education, training and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential job functions.
Three (3) years of experience as a police officer within an environment equal in scope to the duties and requirements of the position.
Certified Law Enforcement Officer in the State of Florida or have the FDLE Exemption Training form (CJSTC) 76 executed, which will give the ability to complete the Equivalency of Training (EOT) and become Florida State Certified
Possesses and maintains a valid Florida driver's license and proof of insurability at all times.
Pass a comprehensive law enforcement background investigation, criminal history check, fitness for duty medical examination, physical ability test, police psychological assessment and related selection criteria. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Non-bargaining Unit Compensation Plan, twelve months, 8.0 hours per day.
Incumbent shall be subject to specialized training, background reviews and confidentiality and compliance requirements as outlined by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and other criminal justice agency user agreements so as to fulfill the duties of the position. The incumbent is considered to be “critical personnel” subject to being held over or called back to a district work location or alternate site at all times. The incumbent may be assigned duties and tasks as determined appropriate and/or necessary by the OCPS District Police Agency Head or their designee. Must be able to use personal protective equipment and other law enforcement/public safety/security equipment as provided by the district. Incumbent shall demonstrate a high level of competency and meet certification and qualification standards in the use of assigned police equipment such as chemical spray agents, firearms, conducted electrical weapons, impact weapons and police vehicles. Position requires incumbent to possess a valid Florida driver's license and proof of insurability at all times. Incumbent must maintain access to a motor vehicle (personal or agency) on a regular basis.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Conditions the worker will be subject to in this position.
Duties will require the ability to respond to incidents after hours, and work extended hours on site, possibly under difficult and trying circumstances. Must maintain 24-hour availability via a wireless device capable of voice and data communications. The incumbent will be considered “essential personnel” subject to being called back to the office or a district location at all times.

If applicants pass the Frontline National Exam (Civil Service Exam), they may be invited to complete a Physical Assessment Test (PAT), which is a 1.5 mile run in 16 minutes or less, complete at least 15 push-ups in one minute, and complete at least 25 sit-ups in one minute. Prior to taking the PAT, each applicant will be required to produce a completed PAT waiver. The waiver will be emailed to applicants at an appropriate time. The applicant will be required to complete a physical examination and an EKG by a physician of their choice.
The physician will complete and sign the last page of the waiver, attesting to the fact that they have reviewed the applicant's health history, performed a physical examination, conducted an EKG, effectively clearing the applicant for participation in the above described physical assessment test. In addition to the PAT, select candidates will also be required to successfully complete a Civil Service Exam (Frontline National Exam via NTN or Frontline National Exam on-site in Orlando in an exam coordinated by OPD as described above), interviews, polygraph exams, a background investigation, a psychological exam and a medical exam. WORK OBJECTIVE
This is an operational position which encompasses the day-to-day law enforcement work for the city under the general supervision of a designated supervisor.
