Duties
During the course of their careers, Uniformed Division Officers carry out assignments in protection. Duties include:
Providing protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area.
Traveling in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions.
Enforcing mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.
Our Uniformed Division's mission is to protect facilities and venues secured for U.S. Secret Service protectees. Throughout its history, the Uniformed Division has accomplished this mission through individuals who embody honor, integrity and a commitment to excellence.
Today, the Uniformed Division has grown both in size and scope of responsibility and is mandated by law to provide physical security for the White House Complex and the vice president's residence at the Naval Observatory. It also provides security for the Treasury Department building and foreign diplomatic missions in Washington, D.C. The Uniformed Division also has specialized teams including Counter Sniper, Emergency Response, K-9, and more.

Possess a current valid U.S. driver's license.
Be at least age 20 and less than age 37 at the time you receive a conditional offer of employment, unless you have previous service in a Federal Civilian Law Enforcement position covered by special law enforcement or firefighter retirement provisions, including early or mandatory retirement. Carry and use a firearm. Maintaining firearm proficiency is also mandatory.
Possess uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular. Possess corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye.

BILINGUAL PAY: The City shall provide a monthly allowance of $200 for bilingual speaking skills, upon the recommendation of the Chief of Police.

SCHEDULE: All police patrol personnel currently work a 12 hour / 3-4 day work schedule.

While incumbents are normally assigned to a specific geographic area for patrol or traffic enforcement, all functional areas of the law enforcement field, including investigation, youth services, administration, and training are included. Incumbents may be armed and may be assigned to work in uniform or plain clothes. Shift schedules and job assignments may be changed periodically to assure the maximum delivery of effective police service. This class is distinguished from Police Sergeant in that the latter is the first supervisory level in this sworn class series responsible for organizing, assigning, supervising, and reviewing the work of staff on an assigned shift.

Special Assignment Pay: 5% Special Assignment Pay for specified assignments; i.e. Traffic Officer; Community Action Team (CAT) Officer; Field Training Officer (FTO); Canine Officer; Public Education Officer (PEO); School Resource Officer (SRO). Detective receives 7.5% and Senior Traffic Officer receives a 10% pay differential (over police officer base salary) based upon their job requirements, duties and function.
Bilingual Pay: Employees shall have the opportunity to demonstrate foreign or sign language proficiency and subsequently be bilingual certified. An employee who receives such certification shall be eligible to receive compensation equal to 5% of his/her base monthly salary.
Education Incentive Premium Pay: Upon completion of probation, Education Incentive Premium Pay provides a 2.5% premium pay for an AA/AS degree, 5% premium pay for a BA degree and 7.5% premium pay for a Master's Degree.
Tuition Reimbursement: $2,000.00 per fiscal year.
Retirement: CalPERS 3.0% @ 50 with highest year formula is provided for current City of Monterey employees or new employees who were hired prior to January 1, 2013 and who are currently active or have been active within six months of the date of hire in the CalPERS retirement system. The employee retirement contribution for these employees is 12% and is deducted on a pre-tax basis. The retirement formula for new employees is 2.7% @ 57 (range of 2% @ 50 to 2.7% @ 57) with highest three year compensation. The employee retirement contribution for these employees is 13.75% and is deducted on a pre-tax basis. The City participates in the Medicare portion of Social Security.
Deferred Compensation: City will match employee paid contributions to a maximum of $150.00 per month.
Health Plan Spending Fund: A minimum of $914.82 per month up to $2,540 per month, dependent upon level of participation (cash-in-lieu of benefits is $300) may be used to purchase medical benefits for the employee and dependents through the PERS Health Plan Program, dependent dental, additional life insurance, dependent care, and/or health care expenses through a Section 125 Flexible Spending Account.
Dental: Fully paid employee premium by the City.
Vision: Fully paid premium for employee and eligible dependents.
Life Insurance: $20,000 policy paid by the City, with an option to purchase additional coverage up to $350,000.
Short Term / Long Term Disability Plan: The City provides a Short Term/Long Term Disability Plan.
Deferred Compensation: City will match employee paid contributions to a maximum of $100.00 per month.
Flexible Spending Account: The Section 125 Plan provides for an employee to set pre-tax dollars aside, through a payroll deduction, for reimbursement of health care and dependent care expenses.
Group Legal: Subject to provider limitations, the City will continue to provide a Group Legal Services Plan for employees represented by MPA through an employee-paid premium.Participation in the program shall be voluntary and consistent with the provider's requirements that the potential pool of participants must include a minimum of 200 employees.
Voluntary Unpaid Leave: With advance approval, an employee may take up to forty (40) hours of unpaid leave per calendar year
City Recreation Program Fees: Resident Rates for City Recreation classes and programs for employees and immediate family household members.
Fitness Pass: Fitness Pass Program available to use the City of Monterey Sports Center.
Fitness Plan: Fitness Plan Program available on an honor system where employees workout off-duty in exchange for leave time accrual. A maximum of 40 hours leave time per calendar year can be accrued with a maximum 80 hours allowed in the bank.
Uniform Allowance: $130.00/month. K9, Traffic, CAT $170.00/month.
Vacation: 1-5 years/10 days ; 6-10 years/15 days; 11-15 years/ 17 days; 15+ years/20 days; 20+ years/23 days.

The City of Gilroy is recruiting for the position of Police Officer - Academy Graduate. The Gilroy Police Department is located 28 miles south of San Jose, in Santa Clara County, and serves a diverse population base of approximately 60,000 residents. Be able to meet the current Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) medical standards for a peace officer and be free from any physical condition which might adversely affect the exercise of power as a peace officer.
Pass P.O.S.T. background investigation, which includes a polygraph examination, an extensive Department of Justice criminal record check, an FBI check and a firearms clearance.
Pass a post-offer psychological evaluation and a medical examination, which includes a drug test.
Possess and maintain a valid California river license necessary to operate assigned vehicles.
Required to be proficient in typical police weaponry

The Police Officer Entry Level position exists specifically for the purpose of training the incumbent to develop the minimum qualifications necessary to become a sworn police officer. Typically, the candidate has not yet entered or completed the POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training) Basic Academy. Duties and Responsibilities
ABOUT THE POSITION
Under general supervision, police officers perform various peace officer duties involving protecting life and property, enforcing laws and ordinances, criminal investigation, traffic control, crime prevention and suppression. Duties may include but are not limited to:
Identify problems or issues that are important to the community, and seek resolution of such problems through the resources of the Police Department, other Town Departments, and/or governmental agencies.
Conduct preliminary or follow-up investigations of burglaries, thefts, robberies, deaths, accidents, and other disturbances.

DEFINITION
This is a non-sworn, training-level classification in the City's police service. Incumbents are hired from entry-level eligible lists and sent to a basic police academy for training. During training, incumbents do not have police powers and are subject to the rules and regulations of the City of Hollister, Hollister Police Department, and the police academy attended. Trainees will be exposed to a variety of non-enforcement duties in law enforcement. Promotion to a sworn Police Officer position is contingent upon successful completion of the basic academy and the final review of the Police Chief. Upon promotion to Police Officer, incumbents will begin a one-year probation as a regular status employee.

Receives general supervision from higher level supervisory and management staff, with direct supervision from a Police Officer.

The Police Officer Trainee will receive instruction in, be exposed to, and introduced to the following areas, which include, but are not limited to the following:
Learn about police patrol activities while accompanying a police officer in a patrol unit.
