The CNC Machinist Lead will be responsible for maintaining safety, quality and operational goals while optimizing efficiency and effectiveness, providing technical assistance, set-up communication and daily support to the team.
Primary Responsibilities
Programs, sets-up, and operates CNC machines in a safe and efficient manner.
Uses inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM to validate tolerances.
Monitors levels of production in the department, shift output per machine, labor performance, scraps and rejects, and housekeeping.
Assist with assigning jobs and machines to team members in their area and shifts.
Responsible for reporting any production, safety, quality issues to the supervisor.
Answers questions and leads team members.
Responsible for the training and development of team members in their department/shift including shadowing and coaching.
Leads team members in the promotion and integration of new ideas and process improvements; promotes safety and quality.
Familiarizes himself/herself with the department metrics and contributes to achieving daily/weekly/monthly targets.
Performs positive and effective shift turnover and hand off to achieve expected results by communicating effectively.

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; a technical college degree is strongly preferred.
At least 5 years of CNC machine programming, operating and set-up experience (CNC Swiss & Turning, CNC Milling machines) or any combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated capability to lead in set-up and manufacture of complicated tight tolerance components and assemblies.
Knowledge of the medical device manufacturing industry.
Knowledge of G-codes and M-codes and MasterCam programming.
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5M.
Experience with machining of various materials: stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, etc.
Proven leadership and effective communication skills.
Working knowledge of ERP (Epicor strongly preferred), Microsoft Office.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft office and its applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, ect), e-mail, communication platforms (Zoom, Teams). Knowledge of manufacturing software and ERP systems (EPICOR is strongly preferred). MasterCam knowledge.

Work Environment
This position is required to work around high-speed machinery and equipment and requires the use of safety glasses. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Plan and lead one or several activity programs in out-of-school time program.

Enter attendance records and other daily or periodic information in participant files as required by program.
Maintain order in the classroom, and handle standard student disciplinary matters, referring students to OST Resource Coordinator or school personnel as necessary.
Attend staff meetings and other program-related meetings as scheduled.
Provide feedback to OST Resource Coordinator on participant and activity progress.
Utilize program curricula and resources as provided in planning program activities.
Work collaboratively with other program staff.
Attend training as required to improve essential skills.
Remain available to work extra hours outside of normal schedule, as circumstances may occasionally require.
May be required to act as liaison to classroom teachers, as appropriate and requested.
May be required to create and distribute flyers regarding program events to program participants.
