The employee functions as a first-line professional manager of professional positions in a complex work area. This position serves as the CRA Reference Laboratory Manager and is responsible for the overall supervision of the staff and day to day activities of the Reference Laboratory within the Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA). The laboratory is responsible for the development, validation, and verification of cannabis testing methods and the routine conduction of all test methods in the laboratory. The laboratory is also responsible for creating a robust program of licensee oversight that includes sample audit testing, investigative testing, research, development, proficiency testing, and onsite audit and oversight of licensed laboratories as needed. The laboratory manager serves as the daily, onsite contact for all laboratory staff and works with the director to oversee laboratory method development and the overall direction of the laboratory. The laboratory manager is also responsible for ensuring that all tests are conducted in accordance with standard operating procedures, ensuring that all test results are accurate and valid, validate reporting in the statewide monitoring system, and overseeing all day to day operations of the lab. Drive up to 100-450 miles per day, occasionally, using state vehicles.
