Under the general direction of the Director of Special Education and the administration leadership of the site administrator while performing services at the school site, provides psychological services to schools including testing, counseling, and consulting to assist them in meeting the educational needs of pupils.
Example of Duties
Conducts psycho-educational evaluations, when requested by school personnel, parents, or agencies, including individual assessment of intellectual, achievement, personality factors, and perceptual and motor development, analysis of assessment information and completes diagnoses, recommendations, and when appropriate, verifies certification for special education programs.
Prepares a written evaluation including an Individual Educational Plan for parent and teacher conferencing, regarding results and recommendations; conducts psycho-educational evaluations, as described above, with students in private and parochial schools, when requested, evaluates pre-school children with special needs, and finds appropriate programs to meet those needs.
Identifies and legally certifies students for in-district and out-of-district special programs, i.e., learning disabled, severe behavior disordered, mentally handicapped, visually handicapped, hearing impaired or deaf, developmentally disabled, physically handicapped, autistic or severely emotionally disturbed, and for gifted programs.
Arranges out-of-district placement for students unable to be accommodated within the school district, including location of appropriate facilities, making applications, transferring information, and recommending financial arrangements.

Description of Position Under the direction of the Director of Student Services, plans and provides behavior management programs for students and provides related services to teachers, instructional aides, administrators, general education staff, parents, and the community as appropriate. Actively participates in the development and implementation of policies relative to the management of challenging behaviors in the school environment. The General Education BCBA will collaborate with site principals and staff in developing interventions for Student Support Teams, Attendance Teams, and 504 Teams. Consults with staff members and parents who are responsible for implementing Behavior Intervention Plans. 9. Provides consultation for classroom and home behavior management plans 10. Provides training for teacher, aides and other staff on behavioral analysis, data collection and effective practices regarding positive behavior supports 11. Develops with school team members, including middle school counselors, ways to provide positive behavior supports and services to teachers and students 12. Designs systematic procedures that result in lasting positive changes in individual student behaviors, including development of behavioral RtI structures for school sites 13. Participates in, coordinates, and/or chairs meetings as necessary 14. Provides services as Behavior Intervention Case Manager as necessary 15. Provides information to the community regarding behavioral services of the District 16. Completes assigned work in a timely manner 17. Job Description
The school psychologist is a licensed professional who works within a school setting to assess, evaluate, and address the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students by collaborating with teachers, parents, and administrators. They support student well-being and learning, through psychological assessments, counseling services, and intervention plans. This role focuses on identifying and addressing learning and behavioral challenges, developing individualized education plans (IEPs), and promoting positive learning environments within the school for all students.
Responsibilities
Administer tests and assessments to students as required (cognitive, adaptive, social-emotional, visual motor, auditory and academic) for initial placement and triennial reviews
Provide written reports analyzing, interpreting and summarizing test results, observations and information from school personnel, students and parents
Monitor compliance issues and provides professionally written and compliant reports and IEPs
Participate in IEP meetings. Participate in SST meetings, placement meetings, and staff development activities
Collaborate with school personnel, parents, and other service providers for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes, developing solutions, planning curriculum, and providing ability awareness
Observe students in a variety of settings. Capable of conducting a functional behavior assessment or other behavior intervention
Participate in staff meetings for program planning
Cooperate with social and public agencies that work with students and their families
Provide counseling for students as needed
Assists in maintenance of accurate and current student records
Identify at-risk children and families and refer them to the proper agencies for services
