Our bus drivers are essential in making sure students get to school safely and are ready to learn. To recognize their important role, for the 2024-25 school year, the district is offering a special cash bonus to all district bus drivers.
New drivers can earn up to a $1,000 bonus after obtaining their CDL, completing training, and driving for 60 consective days with excellent attendance and positive performance record.
For current bus drivers hired before October 16, 2024, there are two opportunities to earn a $1,000 bonus during the academic year. To qualify, drivers must maintain a positive performance record, excellent attendance, and a clean, non-preventable accident record.

High Valley Transit, located in Utah, is seeking candidates for Operator Trainees to obtain their Class B CDL permit with passenger endorsement. During training, the trainee will learn how to successfully be responsible for safely transporting people by bus on regularly scheduled High Valley Transit bus routes; pre & post trip procedures; and communicate with dispatch.

JOB SUMMARY
The Driver Student Transport utilizes a van to transport students over scheduled routes and to/from school and other special excursions; ensures the vehicle of operation is in safe operating condition; and ensures the safety of students during transport, loading, and unloading from the van.
Work schedule will generally be 10-20 hours per week on weekdays: 2-4 hours between 6:00 am and 10:00 am and 2-3 hours between 1:30 pm and 4:30 pm.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Clean assigned vehicles (e.g. sweep and mop inside of vehicle, wipe down seats, clean windows, etc.) to ensure the safety, appearance, and sanitation of the vehicle
Maintain fluids in the assigned vehicle (e.g. gas, oil, water, anti-freeze, etc.) to maintain vehicles in safe operating condition
Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections (e.g. fluid levels, tire pressure, exterior condition, walk-around inspection including lights, etc.) to ensure the safe operating condition of the vehicle and comply with mandated guidelines
Assess incidents, complaints, accidents, and potential emergency situations (e.g. monitor vehicle repair request sheets, etc.) to resolve and recommend a resolution to the situation
Prepare documents and reports (e.g. route reports, employee timecards, incident reports, inspection records, passenger misconduct, mileage logs, student counts, routing information, federal, state standards, and district Policy reports, etc.) to document activities providing written support and conveying information.
Conduct emergency evacuation drills as mandated by state standards to ensure efficiency of procedures and compliance with mandated requirements
Detail vehicle problems in a clear and concise manner (e.g. vehicle repair request, etc.) to maintain safe driving and operating conditions
Report observations and incidents involving students (e.g. discipline, accidents,
inappropriate social behavior, etc.) to communicate information to appropriate personnel
Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars, as assigned to convey, and gather information required to perform functions
Respond to inquiries (e.g. students, parents, other school personnel, etc.) to provide and convey information
