With a background in recreational programming and management experience within independent living at a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), this role will lead the creation of innovative, resident-centered leisure and wellness initiatives. This position works closely with residents, staff, and external partners to design innovative, engaging, and purpose-driven recreational experiences that are tailored to the unique interests and abilities of the Arbor Acres community.

Design, oversee, and execute a diverse schedule of recreational programs, workshops, and wellness-focused events that meet the needs and interests of residents..

Incorporate evidence-based practices from expressive and therapeutic arts to promote physical, intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual, vocational, and environmental well-being.

Regularly assess and update policies and procedures to align with current regulations, ensuring all activities and any recreational therapies are delivered with the highest standards of care, safety, and effectiveness.

Promotes positive public relations by involving outside individuals and community groups in monthly and / or seasonal program presentations and events of resident interest. Maintains a community resource file.
Attends Town Hall meetings and provides such reports to residents as deemed necessary to build their awareness of Arbor Acres recreation and wellness programs.
Assists Resident Council with fundraising events by participation in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of designated outreach programs.
Participates in strategic planning, as assigned, and serves as a resource for information on innovations and best practices in activities/recreation, fitness/wellness and volunteer programs.
Collaborates with the Human Resources Department to ensure that all vendors, entertainers, volunteers, etc., have been screed from the OIG list.
Promotes a positive environment that encourages resident engagement in outings, expanding their travel opportunities both within the local community and beyond. Takes responsibility for serving as a chaperone on overnight trips, which may extend beyond one night and include weekend or out of state / out of the country travel.
Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Continuing Care or Chief Health and Wellness Officer.
Qualifications
Minimum Education
Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation from an accredited university.
Minimum Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in recreational therapy or life enrichment programming, preferably within a CCRC or senior living environment strongly preferred.
A minimum of two (2) years professional experience in activity planning, recreation therapy, or wellness, preferable in a facility or program that serves Senior Adults. Management experience is preferred.
A minimum of five (5) years experience working with older adults in a health care and/or retirement setting.
A minimum of three (3) years of program management and people management preferred.

Resident Nutrition Asst - Dietary Aide - Part Time

The Resident Nutrition Assistant assists in the skilled nursing kitchens and dining rooms prior to, during, and after meals have been served to the residents. General Duties and Responsibilities
Know the residents.
Assist with maintaining equipment and cooking area to ensure safety and sanitation requirements including; keeps a clean, tidy and organized kitchen in compliance with all regulations; cleans when necessary; reports repair and maintenance needs appropriately.
Prepare and serve coffee, tea, juice etc, and assist with the pouring of the beverages at each meal.
Assist in preparing high quality food in accordance with all pertinent safety and health regulations, guidelines and standards, i.e. proper hand washing, labeling, food storage, temperature control, etc.
Follow menus and recipes correctly, making any necessary or requested substitutions appropriately and in a timely manner.

Help to prepare and serve meals and snacks throughout the day at various times in the dining room and room trays. Examples include omelettes, eggs, pancakes, waffles, menu items on the Always Available Menu including burgers, sandwiches and salads.
Facilitate mealtime conversations and maintains a warm, pleasant atmosphere while elders are eating.
Required to maintain dish room area(s), washing all dishes, tableware, glasses, and other kitchen and dining room equipment and assures they are stored, dry and clean in an orderly fashion.
Wash all pots, pans and cooking utensils used to prepare a meal.
Required to assist in cleaning work areas, dining room floor, dining room tables, and dining room chairs after each meal and occasionally after special events, sweep and mop floor at the end of shift.
Consistently follow standard principles of sanitation and universal precautions to preserve food quality and prevent the transmission of food-borne illness.

Reports to the Security Supervisor and works closely with the Nursing Department.
Duties and Responsibilities
Must be EMT Certified. Respond to all IL emergency and PET calls and determines if the call is an emergency requiring emergency response or a false alarm.
If it is determined that it is a real emergency, the EMT Officer will begin the assessment of the resident and determine if 911 is necessary. They will provide the care that is allowed through their EMT training, with the exception of emergency drugs and intubation.
The EMT Officer will stay on the scene until 911 arrives if they are called. They will give report to 911 and then notify the family, if the resident agrees and notify the necessary Arbor Acres staff members.
The EMT Officer will be responsible for documenting each emergency call in the Electronic Medical Record.
If the EMT Coordinator comes upon a resident who is in need of CPR, CPR should me initiated and a call should go to Nursing immediately for backup.
The EMT Officer will also monitor fire alarms and assist nursing in locating any missing residents.
Make rounds in a set order explained by Director of Facilities and/or Security Supervisor. Rounds will consist of all Arbor Acres buildings, elevators, offices, and grounds.
Checkpoints will be monitored on an hourly basis and radioed into the Welcome Center Security Officer on duty.
While conducting walk thru of buildings, offices, etc., will watch for staff sleeping and other safety issues and report the name and department to Welcome Center for Departmental notification.
Will direct/assist all emergency vehicles that come onto Arbor Acres campus until on-call maintenance staff arrives. Will assist Nurse if a resident has fallen.
Responsible for building locking and unlocking.
Will monitor traffic flow and speed detection.
Light checks burned out lights. Report to maintenance.
Light maintenance duties including toilets, heating, TV, phone, etc.
Help with snow removal if needed.
Transport residents to Temp Care rooms if needed.
Wanderguard door checks.
Fill in at Welcome Center to allow for security officers to take breaks.
