Job Summary
The School of Science and Technology (SST) Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) officer will be responsible for developing a fully compliant environmental protection, health, and safety program focused on laboratory operation in the SST and the School of Nursing. Working closely with the Director of EHS for the college, the successful candidate will be responsible for health and safety relating to OSHA and Hazardous Communication (Right to Know), Laboratory Standard (Chemical Hygiene Plan), laboratory inspections, safety equipment, protective equipment, and staffing training. In particular, the successful candidate will be responsible for (1) training on U.S. EPA and DNR Hazardous chemical waste, biohazards, spills, disposal, pick-ups, and managing documentations of all regulatory requirements for SST; (2) assisting faculty as needed in providing environmental, health, and safety classroom training for students; and (3) completing Purchase Orders for the chemical/biological wastes, fume hoods certification, and biological safety cabinets certifications.

Assists with the response to regulatory agency inquiries and reporting obligations. Participates in assessments and audits. Provides technical assistance and guidance in risk-related matters, including ergonomics, industrial hygiene, safety, environmental, incident investigation, business resiliency and occupational health processes.
+ Occupational Injury/Illness, Loss Prevention, Crisis Management, and Business Resiliency (20%): Assist management teams in the investigation, notification and case management for occupational injury/illnesses. Assists operations close out property/casualty recommendations from third parties such as FM Global. Provides support in the development and implementation of business resiliency plans. Provides EHS leadership during business continuity situations.
+ Education and Mentorship (10%): Educates and coaches management teams on their EHS roles and responsibilities. Helps foster a diverse workforce.
**_Qualifications_**
+ Bachelor's degree in related field strongly preferred.Advanced degree and/or professional certification (CSP, CIH, CHMM, etc.) preferred.
+ Minimum 7 years' experience managing EHS programs preferred
+ EHS experience in clinical operations preferred
+ Strong understanding and experience in EHS Management Systems and their successful implementation
+ Must have strong substantive knowledge of regulations and guidance promulgated by Federal and State OSHA and EPA, as well as workers' compensation requirements
+ Strong technical ability to work, collaborate and negotiate with government officials, consultants, and other third-party stakeholders
+ Proven history as a valued, pragmatic and trusted EHS business partner
+ Must have collaborative leadership skills to achieve desired results in a highly matrixed work environment
+ Fosters trust, confidence and followership

Responsible for conducting training and safety programs for teammates in the division's warehouse.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Conduct new hire on the job training.
* Conduct Delivery of Operations Orientation (Onboarding and Compliance)
* Conducts on the job training sessions covering specified areas such as new procedures and coach for correction as requested by a supervisor or manager.
* Provides position-based safety training.
* Conducts Material Handling Equipment Training.
* Responsible for function specific training with CSW
