Our internship program will allow you to gain experience in first-hand process management, critical thinking skills, operational planning for customer fulfillment needs, and formulation of ground beef in a state-of-the-art facility. You will be introduced to our company culture and work practices and learn about department processing practices from start to finish. We will place qualified interns in three locations: Liberal, Kansas; Dodge City, Kansas; and Tama, Iowa.
This is a paid internship. Housing allowance is included where required.
This is a safety-sensitive, on-site position.

You will be working for an industry leader in beef processing!
National Beef's production facilities are high-speed operations with a strong focus on safety, quality, and yields. You will learn how they are designed to execute complex processes required to support the comprehensive product and program needs of National Beef's diverse customers.
You will spend time on the production floor in harvest and fabrication and gain experience while working on rewarding projects to solve real business needs.
This experience will provide a broad introduction to the National Beef Packing Production Operations process. You will work collaboratively with the Operations Team and have networking opportunities with senior leadership in the facility.
As a Beef Production Operations Intern, you will be responsible for preparing detailed reports for the senior management team and key department heads, summarizing key insights and experiences during the internship, including a program-end presentation to this same leadership group, demonstrating what you have learned.

Qualified Candidates for the Beef Production Summer Internship position should possess the following:
Enrolled and have completed at least two years in an accredited college degree program focusing on one of the following fields of study:
Animal Science
Ag Business
Microbiology/Chemistry
Industrial Engineering
Other Related Fields may be considered
Minimum GPA of 3.0 in core curriculum classes
Demonstrated leadership abilities and on-campus involvement
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Ability to work independently and be self-directed on project work
Proficiency with all Microsoft Office products
Availability to work 40+ hours per week (some weekend work) on-site for the duration of the internship

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Assist the Supplier Quality team to analyze Corbion's product-related raw materials against regulatory standards to ensure Corbion meets the regulatory or certifying body's standards globally.
* Support completion of supplier and item risk assessments based upon Corbion's risk management procedures.
* Monitor regional supplier compliance and supporting global initiatives for supplier management.
* Evaluate and audit Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to keep Corbion's production plants audit-ready for supplier compliance.
* Assist with a continuous improvement project utilizing TraceGains and SAP data systems for supplier risk reductions, process efficiencies, and/or improve supplier relations.
* Report/discuss work status and other critical information with peers and Quality management.
* Be flexible in taking additional tasks as needed to support business goals
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Degree-seeking student of a BS degree in science/business technical related field or related disciplines. (Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering)
* Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, OneNote, PowerPoint)
* Proficient in email and business communications. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal to communicate with global business partners.
* Familiarity with general food safety principals.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Experience in food manufacturing or supply chain function within consumer-packaged goods or food industry.

This role provides a strong foundation for anyone eager to develop practical skills and grow in a dynamic environment.
This role requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work in a dusty environment. The intern will report daily to our Grandview, MO location, with occasional opportunities to accompany our Sales and Service team on routine service calls and assist with equipment installations. Responsibilities also include helping rebuild equipment and maintaining a clean, organized workspace. There will also be an opportunity to travel for an industry conference event.
The position is based in a warehouse environment, working 40 hours per week, with approximately 33% travel involved.

The Milling Division of Corbion is the largest supplier of micro-ingredients to the wheat flour milling industry in North America. The ingredients we supply include enrichment premixes, bleach products, diastatic supplements, and flour oxidation products. Utilizes a horse to ride through assigned pens and identify sick animals by observing outward signs of distress; segregates sick cattle for treatment by driving them to nearest hospital pen; calls deads in for removal.
Moves/drives cattle in a low-stress manner.
Assists in the shipment of fat cattle by opening gates, driving cattle to shipping areas for weighing; counting cattle and separating strays; checking withdrawals.
Medically treats livestock according to protocols established by management and consulting veterinarian; administers treatment in a humane manner.

Ensures accurate feed delivery by monitoring feed bunks and assessing feed distribution, quantity, type, and timeliness of delivery.
Ensures that newly received cattle are fed in a timely manner by coordinating feeding with the cattle department.
Minimizes truck downtime by scheduling maintenance/repair; develops and implements feed truck preventative maintenance program.

Fills in when a driver is absent or as necessary by operating a feed truck, hay machine or tractor.
Mill:
Minimizes mill downtime by completing maintenance requirements and scheduling maintenance/repair; develops and implements mill preventative maintenance program.
Monitors quality control of commodities received through regular inspection.
Maintains quality of finished feed rations by using quality ingredients and following recommendations from consulting Nutritionists.
Complies with applicable OSHA, FDA, and EPA regulations; maintains appropriate compliance records.
Yard:
Identifies current and future maintenance requirements through communication with management and production personnel.
Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing maintenance requirements for rolling stock including feed trucks, tractors, and other heavy equipment, and scheduling maintenance and repair.
Coordinates utility repairs with appropriate service providers. Directs maintenance activities on water systems and tanks to provide a continuous supply of drinking water to livestock.
Maintains fencing and gates by repairing damage in a timely manner.
Maintains facility appearance by ensuring that grass/weeds are mowed regularly and trash is properly disposed of.
Plans and supervises all yard construction, renovation, and replacement projects.
Maintains roads, pens, and alleys by filling in holes, controlling dust, and removing accumulated manure.
Maintains environmental compliance and corresponding records according to specified EPA guidelines; collects soil and water samples for testing.

Qualifications
* Currently enrolled college student with relevant coursework in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field
* Mechanical Engineering majors strongly preferred
* Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
* Strong organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
* Aptitude for and interest in mechanics, machinery, and technically challenging work
* Familiarity with and confidence in using basic hand tools and measurement instruments
* Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
* Exposure to and experience with CAD (SolidWorks) preferred

Program Description
The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, headquartered in Akron, OH is looking for talented leaders to strengthen its Environmental Health and Safety programs and play and integral role in the current and future success of the organization. This position will be responsible for supporting regional and plant-level projects associated with environmental health and safety. This will include assistance with personal protective equipment standardization, development/tracking of lockout/tagout initiatives, the performance of assessments, audits, analysis of EHS-related data and preparation of reports. Completion of the activities will occur within an office and manufacturing environment. In addition to challenging, engaging and interesting work assignments, students will have the opportunity to meet and interact with students from other universities at work and outside of work. Tours of Goodyear facilities are arranged to help students learn more about the business.
Requirements
Minimum 3.0 overall GPA required.
Pursuing a Bachelor's degree or Master's degree. The desired education would be in the areas of Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health and Safety Management or related major.
Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word a must.
The ideal candidate will also have a fundamental knowledge of OSHA regulations, ergonomics, and industrial hygiene.
Travel may be required and will vary by project.
Candidates for this role also must be willing to relocate to a Goodyear US manufacturing plant upon graduation.
