The base range for this position is $18.50 - $21.00 per hour. *What you'll be doing:*
* As an EMT-B, you will function within the scope of each county's clinical and operational protocols, as well as abide by all of Royals processes, policies, quality standards and expectations of quality patient care and exceptional customer service.
* Provide basic life support, patient assessment, medication administration, airway management, and determine the nature and extent of illness or injury/establish priority for required emergency care and transport.
* Engage with healthcare leaders and EMS Providers to ensure continuum of care (Physicians, Nurse Managers, Transfer Center Coordinators, Charge Nurses etc.)
* Be prepared to run Code 2's and possible Code 3's
* Understand, address and resolve patient/customer needs to ensure the most appropriate treatment and/or course of action
* Remain calm while working in difficult and stressful situations, and stay focused while carrying out the functions of the position to the best of your ability

* Certified as an EMT in the State of California

Requests will be taken from: hospitals, clinics, medical assistance companies, flight teams or related entities.
Dispatcher/Customer Service Agent will then coordinate the transportation request and send to the most appropriate unit based on: unit availability, unit location, travel time, etc.
He/she shall be responsible for: dispatching and call taking for NORCAL Ambulance crews to both the emergency and interfacility setting, including emergency and private callers.
The Dispatcher will operate tracking, radio or cell phone communication equipment to monitor the status of field personnel and units.
The dispatcher will perform other related tasks and duties as assigned by the departmental leadership.
Primary Daily Duties:
The Dispatcher/Customer Service Agent may be assigned to one or more duties. These duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Receive and prioritize all incoming requests for dispatch.
Efficiently dispatch units to emergency and non-emergency calls in a timely manner.
Demonstrate the ability to make accurate moment-to-moment decision making in regard to the dispatch of emergency and non-emergency vehicles.
Effectively triage all incoming requests for service and sends the appropriate unit according to Northwest Ambulance policy and procedure.

THE POSITION
Responsible for the accurate and timely submission of medical claims to insurance and private payors, contracted facilities and/or Medicare, Medi-Cal and all other government programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Conduct insurance verification and validation to ensure benefits are accurate for claim submission.
· Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances.
· Prepare, review and transmit claims electronically or via paper both timely and within compliance standards.
· Daily monitoring of assigned queues for claim progression.
· Perform various collection actions including handling of correspondence, EOB review, prompt research and appeal of denied claims, if necessary.
· Assist and respond to insurance and patient telephone inquiries within assigned payor group.
· Establish and maintain a courteous and professional attitude with all NORCAL team members, patients, payors, facilities, and management teams.

BILLING SPECIALIST QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Minimum 1-2 years of medical billing experience.
· Certified Ambulance Coder certified (CAC) preferred but not required.

· Multitasker with strong attention to detail and the ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
· Excellent and professional customer service skills.
· Ability to work both independently and in a within a team dynamic.
· Bilingual is a plus, but not required.

The Dispatcher/Customer Service Agent plays a vital role in ensuring the efficient and effective coordination of ambulance services for NORCAL Ambulance. This position is responsible for receiving, prioritizing, coordinating, and dispatching requests for Advanced Life Support (ALS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Critical Care Transport (CCT) crews using the Communications Center Dispatch Software.
Key responsibilities include:
Taking transportation requests from hospitals, clinics, medical assistance companies, flight teams, and other relevant entities.
Evaluating and coordinating transportation requests to assign the most appropriate unit based on factors such as unit availability, location, and estimated travel time.
Dispatching and managing calls for both emergency and interfacility settings, including emergency and private callers.
Operating tracking systems, radio, and cell phone communication equipment to monitor the status of field personnel and units.
Performing additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by departmental leadership.
This role requires a proactive approach to service coordination, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment to support NORCAL Ambulance's mission of delivering high-quality patient care.
Primary Daily Duties:
The Dispatcher/Customer Service Agent may be assigned to one or more duties. These duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Receiving and prioritizing all incoming requests for dispatch services.
Efficiently dispatching emergency and non-emergency units in a timely manner.
Making accurate, real-time decisions regarding the assignment of emergency and non-emergency vehicles.
Triaging all incoming service requests and assigning the appropriate unit in accordance with Northwest Ambulance policies and procedures.
Gathering necessary information from individuals requesting medical transport.
Maintaining professional communication with field units and external agencies.
Utilizing dispatch paging systems, iPhones, landlines, and radios effectively, troubleshooting technical issues as needed, and escalating to the operations manager when appropriate.
Participating in mandatory training programs to maintain proficiency.
Performing basic data entry tasks with accuracy.
Delivering exceptional customer service to callers, clients, and crew members.

About the Opportunity
Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) provide emergent and non-emergent medical care to patients being transported by PT-1 Ambulance. EMTs for PT-1 travel to partner facilities, patient homes, and/or events requiring services. In partnership with another EMT or higher qualified clinicians, PT-1 EMTs provide quality care to the treatment level required.
