About the Role The Gas Leak Survey Technician reports to the Assistant Manager or Supervisor at Bermex. This position plays a key role in surveying gas lines, meters, piping, and surrounding areas for evidence of gas leaks using a Methane Leak Detector. This position requires a high degree of physical activity, working in a wide variety of weather conditions, excellent time management, and exceptional attention to detail. ***Salary Transparency: The pay rate for this position is at $20/hour. *** What You'll Do Gas Leak Surveying: Surveys gas leaks by walking from site to site Follows sketches and diagrams to identify gas line locations Utilizes a Remote Methane Leak Detector (RLMD) or similar device to detect natural gas leaks Performs visual inspections of gas meters, lines and fittings Grades gas leaks by level of severity and reports/escalates accordingly Follows strict Utility, State and Federal guidelines relating to surveying, grading, and reporting gas leaks Collects data using handheld computer or other collection device Follows safety, quality, and operational procedures Completes assigned routes and work orders on the assigned date Survey in Various Environmental Conditions: Extensively walk and stand for much of the workday Walk for long distances in various weather conditions (rain, sleet, hail, snow, extreme heat or cold, etc.) Exert physical force moving objects (routinely 10lbs of force, up to an occasional 50lbs of force) Customer & Team Communication: Refers all consumer complaints to the appropriate authorities Provides timely reports and documentation to management per procedures May provide general information about services to customers, when applicable Use telephones, tablets, and/or computers to communicate Participates in safety meetings Shows courtesy and professionalism when dealing with customers and other employees Other duties as assigned. The Senior Survey Technician accurately coordinates and prepares survey data calculations and spreadsheets, including creating project mapping and input into CAD. In addition, they conduct research on projects for legal and utility standards as well as interact with the client (internal and external) to understand changes in mapping and scheduling. The Senior Survey Technician is able to fill in gaps on survey projects, based on business needs, either in the field or at the office. Duties & Responsibilities Calculation of Data: Calculate points data/detail of project and build information in spreadsheets. Create Asbuilt information presentation received from Crews. Ensure data is appropriately filed. Mapping/Research: Create mapping data from field and insert into CAD and make adjusts to project information as necessary; Resolve boundary resolutions. Prepare ALTA surveys using appropriate standards. Conduct research including legal, courthouse records, utility mapping and review materials such as aerial photos, FEMA maps, internal formal project data for accuracy. Field visits: Fill in on crews as needed and occasionally audit field crew work. Survey Schedules: Review project workload to develop crew schedules. Manage workload of crews and reorganize crew schedule/workload as needed based on business needs. Proposal Development: Information gathering, such as quantities, length of project completion, etc., and submit to Project Manager or Group Leader. Client Interaction: Field calls for proposals, scheduling, mapping, etc. Review projects with the internal leaders/teammates for status updates and other pertinent information regarding projects. This position collaborates directly with engineering and works as a member of a survey crew in the field performing surveys for pipeline route selection, site acquisitions, and pipeline integrity. The surveyor is responsible for providing, completing and tracking survey activities and deadlines for engineered projects as well as those required by various company projects related to the development and execution of natural gas facilities. The surveyor will provide detailed surveys for bid and construction projects and document the completed construction projects. This position communicates with project team members and third-party contracted resources to effectively oversee design related investments and improvements being made to the company's infrastructure and supports the land survey activities for the company. The surveyor is expected to work independently with minimal supervision while performing surveys for various pipeline projects and report to management on significant variances in schedules. This position may be assigned to a structured training program designed to provide interdisciplinary experience.
