PRIMARY PURPOSE Provide assistance to the Party Chief and performs duties as directed, by making exact measurements and supporting all disciplines with a quality layout for unit installation. Provide data relevant to the shape, contour, gravitation, location, elevation, or dimension of land or land features on or near the earth's surface for engineering, construction, and other purposes. PRINCIPAL DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES • Holds level or stadia rod at designated points to assist in determining elevations and laying out stakes for mapmaking, construction, land, and other surveys. Place stakes at designated points and drives them into ground at specified elevation. • Cuts and clears brush and trees or other possible obstructions from line ofsurvey. • Measures distance between survey points with steel or cloth tape or surveyor's chain. • Marks measuring points with markers, paint sticks, tacks, scratches orstakes. • Load/unload equipment and prepare for daily jobs. • Help calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain or current installations. • Determine longitudes and latitudes of important features and boundaries in survey areas using theodolites, transits, levels, and satellite-based global positioning systems(GPS). • Record the results of surveys including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features. • Adjust surveying instruments to maintain their accuracy. • Participate in all safety related processes and programs as requested. Engage with your work team to ensure we achieve zero injuries. Understand that no job is so important that your safety and that of your crew will be compromised. Watch for hazards and report any concerns to your supervisor or safety professional. If needed, use your stop work authority until the issue isresolved. • Report all accidents and near misses to supervisor; participate in investigation process as needed. • Participate in all pre-job work planning and safety discussions; Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate and/or mitigate hazards. • Understand and respond appropriately to all safety hazards and warning devices (i.e. back-up alarms, smell of smoke, different colored warning tags, warning sirens). • Understand, support, and follow lockout/tag out procedures. Attend site specific training and assure you follow all procedures as out lined intraining. • Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean workenvironment. • Use effective verbal and written communication skills. Add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and fractions rapidly and accurately. • Listen to co-workers suggestions, safety concerns, and recommendations giving full attention to what they are saying and take the time to understand the points being made, asking questions and providing feedback when appropriate. • Coordinate work with other crafts and co-workers on thejob. • Actively participate in on-the-job training and mentoring opportunities with co-workers in your craft when provided. • Produce quality work, meeting requirements of plans, specifications and industry standards. • Learn to read and understand plans and specifications. Visualize two dimensional drawings in three dimensions. • With regard to that portion of the work assigned, assist in planning, installing and/or repair systems in accordance with those plans and specifications. Assist journeymen in laying out work and learn to perform layout independently. • Inspect helper's work for compliance with the, contract plans, specifications, and industry standards. Point out deficiencies, explain them, and take corrective action needed. • Observe functioning of installed equipment or systems to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement. Notify supervision of any hazards observed and utilize safety stop work authority as as needed. • Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measures that arise or that may be encountered. Take corrective actions as needed reporting any issues to your supervision. • If certified to operate equipment ensure that construction equipment is correctly operated, maintained, in good working order, and Daily Equipment Inspections are completed for equipment being used. • Comply with Company Code of Conduct and jobsite policies. • Perform all other actions necessary to accomplish the foregoing principal duties and accountabilities. • Work in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision. • Perform all other job-related duties as requested by supervisor
Requirements
JOB QUALIFICATIONS At least 1 years of experience working in the industrial construction field with layout or survey responsibilities. Must have a developing knowledge of layout and survey work using mathematics to solve problems by adding and subtracting, multiplication and dividing and perform these operations using units of measurement for distance and have a general understanding of algebra, trigonometry, and geometry, and be able to verify mathematical calculations for gathering physical survey data, document technical design details, analyze physical, survey, or geographic data, survey land to measure or determine features, determine operational criteria or specifications, calibrate scientific or technical equipment, calculate geographic positions from survey data. Ability to understand and follow directions. Must be at least 18 years of age. RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is 100% remote with up to 75% travel. The Life Safety Code Surveyor will perform various types of surveys (i.e., re-certification, comparative, complaint investigation, and revisits) for long-term care and non-long-term care facilities, including:

Surveyors will travel nationally to healthcare facilities, conducting surveys to assess compliance with federal regulations ensuring the safety of residents and patients. Responsibilities include:
• Conducting on-site surveys of Medicare-Medicaid certified healthcare facilities to determine compliance with federal regulations.
• Preparing for surveys, including off-site preparation, facility tours, observations, record reviews, and staff interviews.
• Evaluating the safety systems and physical plant of healthcare facilities.
• Communicating non-compliance issues with key personnel throughout the site review and exit conference.
• Determining the acceptability of plans of correction.
• Conducting follow-up visits and monitoring surveys to verify the implementation of corrective actions.
• Assisting with facility and bureau training, as well as participating in work groups as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in Life Safety Code inspections and fire safety in accrediting or certifying facilities serving long-term care residents.
• Successful completion of CMS's Basic Life Safety Code Training.
• Fire Inspector 1 (NFPA) certification preferred but not required.
• Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to conduct federal surveys, investigate complaints, and respond to crisis situations in compliance with federal laws, regulations, and guidelines.
• Strong independent decision-making skills to effectively manage the survey process, set priorities, discuss conflicts, and seek assistance when needed.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Current knowledge of fire protection and life safety standards of practice.
• Must be able to travel up to 75% of the time.

Working Conditions
Position located at 1727 30th Street, Sacramento, Sacramento County.
While at their base of operation, incumbent will work in a climate-controlled office under artificial lighting. As a statewide organization, DES adjusts to periods of fluctuating workload to successfully deliver projects. Incumbent will be required to travel and perform fieldwork and will be exposed to dirt, uneven surfaces, extreme temperatures, noise, vibration, and odor associated with fieldwork. Qualifications
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. An associate degree or technical certificate in surveying, geomatics, or civil engineering is preferred.
Basic understanding of land surveying principles, including measurements, data collection, and boundary calculations.
Strong attention to detail, team player, and effective communication skills.
Ability to work in outdoor environments, sometimes in challenging weather or terrain. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
Familiarity with survey equipment such as levels, total stations, and GPS systems. Experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting software is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or GIS software is advantageous.
Experience with advanced survey technologies, including robotic total stations, terrestrial laser scanners, SLAM systems, and UAVs.

JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, performs a variety of tasks related to land and engineering survey work for County projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
One (1) year of work experience in Surveying or other related field.
Preference given for Associate Degree in Geomatics, Surveying Program, or Civil Engineering.
Must take and pass the Level I certified Survey Technician (CST) exam within the first six months of employment.

As a Survey Technician for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you will be part of a survey field crew performing work on topographic and boundary surveys, and construction stakeouts. You will perform land survey work through the application of surveying principles and practices and use of modern survey equipment. You will operate instrumentation, clear brush, drive stakes, hold chains or rods, record data, prepare sketches and maintain equipment as needed. The Gas Leak Survey Technician reports to the Assistant Manager or Supervisor at Bermex. What You'll Do
Gas Leak Surveying:
Surveys gas leaks by walking from site to site
Follows sketches and diagrams to identify gas line locations
Utilizes a Remote Methane Leak Detector (RLMD) or similar device to detect natural gas leaks
Performs visual inspections of gas meters, lines and fittings
Grades gas leaks by level of severity and reports/escalates accordingly
Follows strict Utility, State and Federal guidelines relating to surveying, grading, and reporting gas leaks
Collects data using handheld computer or other collection device
Follows safety, quality, and operational procedures
Completes assigned routes and work orders on the assigned date
Survey in Various Environmental Conditions:
Extensively walk and stand for much of the workday
Walk for long distances in various weather conditions (rain, sleet, hail, snow, extreme heat or cold, etc.)
