About the Role

About your role
Rocket Lawyer is looking for a sharp and energetic Legal Researcher to join our team. This role will be in charge of researching, building, optimizing, and maintaining Rocket Lawyer's rich library of proprietary legal documents so they are user-friendly, current, and legally compliant. Success in this position will require a strong legal background, research skills, impeccable writing, and editing skills, as well as excellent critical data analysis and problem-solving. Candidates should be detail-oriented, interested in technology, know how to review and assess legal documents and have a general understanding of as many areas of law as possible. The ability to identify key legal issues for a wide variety of customers, break issues down into manageable steps, and assemble those steps into a clear and straightforward process will be a critical part of this role.
Success in this position requires excellent communication and time management skills. The ability to work through projects with little or no supervision is essential, as are the abilities to commit to and deliver against deadlines and adapt to changes in requirements quickly and efficiently.

Conduct state-by-state legal research on legal issues related to Rocket Lawyer's legal documents
Use our editorial platform to create interactive legal documents and government forms serving a customer base with diverse legal needs
Be able to explain legal jargon in layman's terms
Structure clearly articulated, easy-to-use decision flows that help make sense of how legal documents are organized for customer use
Work with colleagues and technical staff to develop and test interactive documents
Continuously improve Rocket Lawyer's legal document library; propose document-based projects to improve efficiency and add customer value
Act as subject matter expert, define end-to-end legal processes and develop other legal content
Effectively communicate progress toward project milestones
Answer legal document-related questions from Rocket Lawyer's customer support team
What you'll need
Bachelor's Degree required, J.D. degree preferred

A typical day includes: • Learning how to use ERP screens and reports and do their own investigations and • looking for the data needed to create mappings between the ERP data and what is needed for the data warehouse. • Articulate with actual samples any difficulties in reconciling the ERP data to what is required for the data warehouse and suggest alternative options.
• Run queries on the Datawarehouse and PowerBI to verify their mapping work and provide the data needed for reporting.
• Create mapping instructions containing:
o The worked example from ERP screens and reports
o One of more queries that reproduce their worked example, but maps column for the column to the target table in the existing data warehouse
o Provide an example of the results set to prove the target results match the worked example
o Advise of any caveats and limitations of use of their work.
• QA the results end-to-end, not only to the data warehouse, but to the Power BI datasets too, and provide remediation instructions, or explain limitations of use to the FPA team
This project is not a fit for those:
• Cannot deliver unless they are allowed to re-architect the data warehouse
• Expect someone else to QA their results.
• Not willing to learn the screens and basic reporting features of the source ERP to a sufficient level to do their own QA.
• I am not willing to engage with an offshore team where the overlap is only 7-10 am and work with subject experts throughout the eastern US work day.
• If there is ambiguity they cannot work with, is uncomfortable asking pointed questions to understand the Acceptance criterion and make explicit what is vital versus nice-to-have.
•Not comfortable explaining their work to others or unscheduled walkthroughs of their deliverables at short notice.
Qualifications
Experienced in exploring ERP system's order-to-cash screens, running reports, and relating what they see on the screen to where it may appear in the application's database.
Must have a natural aptitude for analyzing, reconciling, and finding anomalies in that data and seeking out edge cases outside the normal transaction flows.

The Machine Learning Infrastructure & Data team is responsible for architecting and building the foundational systems and tools that enable efficient development, deployment, and management of machine learning models at scale.
As a Lead Machine Learning Infrastructure Engineer, you will be pivotal in designing, developing, and maintaining robust and scalable infrastructure components to support Upwork's machine learning initiatives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams-including machine learning researchers, data scientists, and software engineers-to build state-of-the-art platforms and tools that accelerate the development and deployment of machine learning models.
Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and optimize distributed systems and infrastructure components to support large-scale machine learning workflows, including data ingestion, feature engineering, model training, and serving.
Develop and maintain frameworks, libraries, and tools that streamline the end-to-end machine learning lifecycle, from data preparation and experimentation to model deployment and monitoring.
Architect and implement highly available, fault-tolerant, and secure systems that meet the performance and scalability requirements of production machine learning workloads.
Collaborate with machine learning researchers and data scientists to understand their requirements and translate them into scalable and efficient software solutions.
Stay current with advancements in machine learning infrastructure, distributed computing, and cloud technologies, integrating them into our platform to drive innovation.
Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and uphold engineering best practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions.

The annual base salary range for this position is displayed below. Work/Project Scope:
You will be working with Engineering teams, Product Managers, and Designers to build outstanding products for our users!
Requires proactive communication and collaborative work with other skilled professionals for code reviews, problem solving, and writing supporting documentation.
You will share the ownership of our front and back end code domains and will actively work to solve meaningful user problems and improve quality.
Must Haves (Required Skills):
Solid software development experience using Java as well as extensive experience with REST and relational databases in a cloud environment such as AWS.
Deep knowledge of modern JavaScript (ES6+ and Typescript), CSS, and HTML.
Experience with a modern JS framework, such as Vue (preferred), React, or Angular
Experience in writing well-structured, easily maintainable unit tests (such as JUnit, Mockito, Jest, etc).
Experience with AI-coding assistants such as co-pilot, cursor, etc
Experience with Infrastructure and working with AWS , Azure
A solid track record of collaborating on code and documentation with large, distributed teams of engineers.
Experience building and supporting high-load web applications and solving scalability issues.
English on at least an intermediate level (should be able to pass the technical interview in English)
