About the Field Service Technician Position
AVID maintains a reputation for customer service excellence though rapid response, deep technical and industry knowledge, and effective post-sale service and support. As a customer-facing member of the Field Service team, you will travel to customer sites throughout the United States, Canada, and Latin America to provide in-plant services on AVID Corporation equipment.
The Field Service Technician is primarily a travelling role, requiring 70% travel in a typical month. While in the field, you will calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, install, and otherwise maintain AVID's line of test and precision measurement equipment.
While in the office, you will assist the production and delivery teams with new instrument setup and qualification while providing remote phone and computer support to customers, and planning upcoming service visits. AVID places high value on a healthy work-life balance, and does not require travel on weekends.
Responsibilities
Following a 2-to-3-month orientation and training phase, primary responsibilities will include:
Traveling to customer sites in North America, Latin America, and Europe providing scheduled maintenance, calibration, and emergency repair services at customer facilities.
Troubleshooting & resolving customer questions and technical support issues via calls, emails, and field work.
Contacting and arranging service schedules with customers and AVID support management, and making necessary personal travel arrangements.
Assisting with in-house production, setup, testing, and qualification of new instruments.
Repairing / testing customer equipment and subcomponents returned for service.
Requirements
Successful candidates will possess critical/analytical thinking skills, a history of solving complex technical problems, and the ability to learn and apply new skills. The candidate must be self-starting, self-motivated, composed and adaptable to change. Service technicians work with minimal supervision in the field, and are expected to demonstrate initiative and professionalism.
Applicant must be willing to relocate to the Portsmouth, NH area for consideration.
Education: Bachelor's degree, but relevant technical experience or training will also be considered.
US Passport, or the ability to acquire a US Passport (some international travel is expected in this role).
Reliable personal transportation.
Strong electrical/mechanical aptitude.
Strong computer skills.
Proficiency with MS Office products and MS Windows OS.
English language fluency (verbal and written) is required for this position.

Coordinate and communicate with designated Customer personnel or other Third Parties, concerning scheduling and requirements so as to minimize the impact on Authorized Users;
conduct, or confirm a Site survey has been conducted, to determine the location(s) of the IMAC and any special requirements at the location(s);
Coordinate any physical space requirements as determined during the Site survey review;
Confirm that all Equipment, Software, parts, Network, Cabling, or any other services necessary to execute the IMAC will be available as of the date(s) scheduled for the IMAC;
