The Respiratory Therapists will provide consultation and education to other healthcare professionals. The Respiratory Therapist will be in routine contact with patients during the provision of hands-on care and in frequent contact with patients' families. The Respiratory Therapist will have contact with other clinic and hospital staff, such as nurses, aides, clerks, and physicians. Essential Functions 1. Additional miscellaneous duties and responsibilities, as may be assigned from time to time by employee's supervisor. 2. Verify all physician orders for care and provide age and developmental-appropriate care to infants, children, adolescents, and adults. 3. Assess patients clinically and evaluate for appropriateness of therapy. 4. Participate in home-care education by training patients, their families, and designated care providers. 5. Provide recommendations and education to physicians and nurses regarding respiratory care. 6. Participate in the evaluation or respiratory care equipment and procedures and maintain current knowledge about departmental policies and procedures. 7. Perform schedule calibration for spirometry devices and other designated equipment. 8. Provide pulmonary focused education for clinic staff which may require periodic travel to other sites. 9. Work in coordination with the PFT laboratory staff on troubleshooting issues with spirometry devices. 10. Provide aerosolized medication therapy, perform non-invasive monitoring, deliver aerosolized medication, perform pulmonary spirometry test, provide asthma and allergy education, assist with procedures, and any other office duties as assigned. 11. Provide emergency respiratory care and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. 12. Document care provided, patient assessment and patient care orders in electronic medical record (EMR) or hard copy when necessary. Enter charges in EMR. Requirements Associate's degree; Graduate of a COAARC Approved Respiratory Care Program DE State Division of Professional Regulation Respiratory Care Practitioner License, NBRC-RRT, AARC Membership, CPR, PALS, NBRC-CPFT/RPFT, Pennsylvania & Delaware RT licenses, in some positions (required by state laws) additional state licenses may be required NBRC- NPS, NAECB-AE-C, NRP, ACCS, NBRC-RPFT preferred Must have experience preforming spirometry testing.
