Roles & Responsibilities:
We are seeking a phenomenal computational biologist and leader who is motivated to apply their expertise across a wide range of activities, from exploratory research projects through to candidate development and clinical translation. This role is pivotal in establishing Moonlight's computational strategies and capabilities, in driving our lead therapies toward clinical studies, and in extracting and integrating novel insights across our emerging pipeline and discovery efforts. The successful candidate will work on-site or, if remote, spend significant time at our office and laboratory located in Seattle's Eastlake neighborhood. The ideal candidate will have a strong programming foundation across multiple relevant languages and have extensive experience integrating a range of quantitative and statistical methods to cumulatively collect, process, analyze, visualize, and interpret complex biological and genetic data. Most importantly, the successful candidate will have a track record of extracting decision-driving insights as well as effectively communicating them across many organizational levels, including to program and leadership teams, executives and/or board of directors. The ideal candidate will have experience in applying their skillsets across the gene editing and/or cell and gene therapy fields, inclusive of supporting regulatory filings and clinical data management, and have demonstrated a capacity to devise and execute innovative solutions and approaches to challenging scientific and business-related problems. Objectives & responsibilities for this role include:
Collaborating with research teams to:
· Implement innovative computational methods to support and help iterate across a broad range of discovery efforts
· Drive disease-target relationship assessment, support target selection and de-risking and associated binder discovery campaigns
· Support the design, implementation, and analysis of protein modeling and protein engineering projects
· Work closely with experimental biologists to design and analyze functional genomics and perturbation screens

We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications:
· PhD in a life-sciences related and computational biology intensive program
· 8+ years of post-graduate experience, with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience in genomics, gene editing, and/or cell therapy related fields
· Applied expertise in a wide variety of computational tools/methods impacting discovery and translational projects
Familiarity with regulatory requirements for computational and bioinformatics analyses in the gene editing field

Program Objectives
To provide exceptional training and experience for APP professionals to have a successful career in any emergency department setting.
To prepare candidates well for recognized emergency medicine APP examinations (NCCPA-CAQ for physician assistants, AANPCB Boards for nurse practitioners)
Curriculum
Fifteen (15) months program duration with over 3000 hours of post graduate training
Close to 2400 hours of clinical training
Over 300 hours of didactics to include over an introductory bootcamp followed my weekly activities that include conferences, meetings, case presentations, ultrasound training, procedure lab or simulation.
Over 400 hours of independent study to include case review & presentation preparation, assigned CME and readings, and scholarly research project.

As a Research Intern on our team, you'll have the unique opportunity to work on research problems that can improve the productivity and discovery experience of scientists through the development of intelligent research assistants and platforms like Semantic Scholar (semanticscholar.org) .
We collaborate frequently with researchers on other Ai2 teams focused on natural language processing and computer vision, among others. Our main office has close ties and unique access to researchers at the University of Washington, only 1.5 miles away. Researchers excited about such internal and external collaborations are encouraged to apply.

Who We Are:
Semantic Scholar Research at the Allen Institute for AI (Ai2) is an interdisciplinary research team focused on AI, HCI, ML, NLP, accessibility, and computational social science in support of our mission of accelerating science. Our research powers open platforms and tools that assist scholars in performing scientific research tasks (e.g., literature discovery and synthesis, hypothesis generation, etc.) such as the Semantic Scholar platform and intelligent research assistants. Your Next Challenge:
Research interns on our team will have the opportunity to:
Conduct high-impact research and author scientific papers for publication in high-profile computing conferences and journals,
Collaborate with and learn from a dedicated Ai2 mentor and other team members across Ai2, including scientists and engineers,
Implement and share open source software to improve access to our research, and
Help develop collaborative relationships with relevant academic, industrial, government, and standards organizations.
What You'll Need:
Are a student completing a PhD or a Master/Undergraduate with research experience in Computer Science or related field, with specific focus in one or more of our team's active research areas.
A strong publication record in AI-related areas. Example venues include ACL, CHI, CSCW, ICLR, EMNLP, SIGIR, KDD, WWW, CVPR, NeurIPS, ICML, and UIST. Contributions to research communities (e.g. workshop organization, tutorials) are a plus.
Strong software engineering skills. Experience with system building (e.g., web application frameworks) or deep learning frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, Tensorflow). Contributions to open-source research libraries (e.g. AllenNLP, spa Cy) are a plus.
