The Funding Research Assistant at the Children's Community School (CCS) provides support to help further advance the school's development office's research for accurately identified potential donors. The Audette Lab of Flexible Sensory Processing (Psychological Sciences, UConn Storrs) is seeking a full-time research assistant. The successful candidate will train in surgical and anatomical methods, behavioral paradigm design, electrophysiological recording, and data analysis. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Provide administrative support and general lab management * Coordinate and train undergraduate research team * Work with vivarium staff to manage mouse colony * Order and inventory equipment and reagents * Attend and engage in laboratory meetings * Learn and conduct experimental procedures including surgeries, histology, neural recording, and behavioral testing * Contribute to data analysis and data presentation * Develop and conduct an independent research project (optional) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's Degree in Neuroscience, Biology, Engineering, Psychology, or a related field. * Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills. * Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team with diverse skill sets and backgrounds. * Track record of strong organizational and time management skills. * Experience working in an academic research laboratory. * Experience working with word processing, spreadsheets, and related computer programs. * Enthusiasm for building the skills to perform systems neuroscience research. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Experience working in a laboratory setting focused on Neuroscience, Biology, or a related field. * Experience working with rodents as a model organism. * Experience with survival surgery, viral expression vectors, and histological analysis. * Experience programming in MATLAB, Python, or R for data analysis and/or software development. * Experience using engineering skills related to electronic circuits, 3D printing design, or Arduino programming. APPOINTMENT TERMS This Research Assistant position is a full-time, 12-month appointment that is annually renewable based on performance and funding availability.
