Position Summary
The Investment Research Associate will work directly with the portfolio managers of the FAM Value Fund and the corresponding separate account strategy. This role focuses on fundamental securities analysis and supports all aspects of the investment research process, including financial modeling, due diligence on new investment ideas, interactions with company management teams, investment presentations, and portfolio monitoring. The Associate will operate as a generalist, gaining exposure to multiple industries and economic sectors.
Primary Responsibilities
Maintain research coverage of existing and potential portfolio holdings as directed by the portfolio manager.
Develop and maintain detailed financial and valuation models in Excel.
Support all aspects of new investment idea due diligence.
Conduct peer and industry analysis, including expert calls and attendance at trade shows.
Build and maintain relationships with sell-side analysts, salespeople, and research associates.
Prepare and publish internal research reports and investment presentations.
Analyze and report on portfolio performance drivers.
Assist in developing marketing materials and white papers related to the strategy.
Uphold Fenimore's core values and client-first culture.
Occasionally travel with analysts for company visits.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree with a strong background in investing or accounting; MBA preferred.
Prior equity investing experience is strongly preferred but not required.
CFA designation or willingness to pursue it.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
Ability to analyze large datasets via APIs using Python, R, or similar tools.
Highly motivated, confident self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Ribosomes are protein-synthesizing molecular machinery that are a primary target of antibiotics used to treat bacterial diseases.
Recently, a technique called RAPPL (RNA Affinity Purification using Poly-Lysine) has been developed as a simple, cost-effective, and rapid method to purify active ribosomes from small cell culture volumes.
The incumbent will assist in optimizing this method for purifying ribosomes from Escherichia coli (Eco) cell cultures, assess its efficacy of purification to previous ribosome purification methods such as sucrose fractionation, and then apply it to purify ribosomes from other cell cultures, such as Mycobacterium smegmatis (Msm).
The work may involve activities including but not limited to ordering supplies, buffer preparation, bacterial cell culture, ultra-centrifugation, sucrose fractionation, RNA gel separation, protein gel separation, cryo-electron electron microscopy grid preparation, and related biochemical assays.

The Fellow Intern role in the Material Mechanics and Durability organization is designed to support development of the novel test methods and life prediction methods for advanced material systems. Health Research, Inc. is seeking an Hourly Research Scientist to work within the Division of Translational Medicine at the Wadsworth Center of the New York State Department of Health to assist in the implementation of a novel purification method to isolate ribosomes from small volumes of cell culture. Ribosomes are protein-synthesizing molecular machinery that are a primary target of antibiotics used to treat bacterial diseases. Recently, a technique called RAPPL (RNA Affinity Purification using Poly-Lysine) has been developed as a simple, cost-effective, and rapid method to purify active ribosomes from small cell culture volumes. The incumbent will assist in optimizing this method for purifying ribosomes from
Escherichia coli (Eco
) cell cultures, assess its efficacy of purification to previous ribosome purification methods such as sucrose fractionation, and then apply it to purify ribosomes from other cell cultures, such as

ANNOUNCEMENT Research Scientist II Salary Grade 22 : $75,999 - $86,588 The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Research Scientist II in the Office of Addiction Services and Supports, Division of Planning, Research, Information Management & Evaluation, Bureau of Research and Program Evaluation to evaluate multiple initiatives supported by the Opioid Settlement Funds (OSF). The initiatives are designed to develop and enhance prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery services throughout the state through competitive Request for Application (RFA) processes as well as through regional abatement payments to localities across the state.
A successful candidate will have experience working with large health-related and administrative data sets, using SAS; collaborating with professional and support staff; strong organizational, writing, and oral communication skills; the ability to work cooperatively with diverse stakeholders; and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience working in culturally diverse communities is an asset.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Serve as evaluation specialist on multiple, concurrent projects.
* Design and implement evaluation plans that address project objectives and stakeholder needs.
* Collect, clean, analyze, and interpret data using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
* Write clear and concise reports that communicate findings and make recommendations.
* Present evaluation results to diverse audiences in a variety of formats.
* Manage all aspects of assigned evaluations, with continuous process improvement.
* Collaborate with team to include project director, project coordinators, subject matter experts, providing technical assistance and guidance as needed.
* Stay abreast of new developments in the field of public health evaluation and share knowledge with colleagues.
* Travel is required, 5%.
Minimum Qualifications:
* A Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field is required with a minimum of 3 years of research or evaluation experience; preference is given to health economics, public health, public administration, sociology, data science, statistics or related field.
* A Master's degree in an appropriate field can be substituted for one year of professional experience described above;
* PH D. in an appropriate field may be substituted for two years of professional experience described above.
* Expertise in the use of SAS evidenced by having had at least one (1) year of full-time work using SAS.
* Expertise in organizing, managing, and analyzing quantitative data using descriptive statistics evidenced by having had at least one (1) year of full-time work.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Demonstrated evaluation experience, data science, and mapping.
* Demonstrated experience conducting program evaluations to include samples of final products/reports.
* Ability to calculate, interpret and communicate statistics from data systems and provide findings in a variety of formats to both technical and general audiences.
* Experience working across large data sets at the state and federal levels with attention to how outcomes are affected by spending.
* Proficiency in SAS, Tableau, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is preferred.
* Four (4) or more years working to support government data driven research, evaluation, and planning, at the Research Scientist 1 level, or equivalent.
