Role Overview:
The Lymphoma Service in the Division of Hematologic Malignancies , Department of Medicine, is seeking a full-time Clinician Researcher at the Assistant Attending level or higher who will focus on patient care, education and research at our Upper East Side Locations. The Lymphoma Service is interested in multidisciplinary care for patients with all Lymphoma entities. The responsibilities will include clinical expertise in patient care, clinical and/or translational research, and teaching/ training.
Our 23 full-time oncologists see patients at different stages of their disease management, coordinating their care and developing comprehensive and innovative strategies using conventional and investigational treatments, including immune-based, targeted and cell therapies. The service also supports a wide range of clinical and translational research, with established collaborations with other clinical services and research laboratories and recent publications in top-tier journals of medicine, oncology and hematology.

Specific responsibilities will include: (1) preparation of high-quality microbiological media and reagents; (2) laboratory support for microbiological studies related to R&D Microbiology Preservatives research projects; (3) maintain laboratory and inventory of supplies (4) maintain aseptic techniques and adhere to laboratory safety and quality protocols (5) operate and maintain lab equipment (e.g. incubators, autoclaves, pH meters) (6) This individual will also be expected to contribute to building an inclusive environment and positive work culture within the R&D Microbiology Laboratory
Requirements/ Job Skills & Years of Experience for Each:
• A completed B.S. or B.A. degree in a core science field such Microbiology, Biology, Cell Biology, Food Science, etc., plus a minimum of two years of paid work experience, of which at least 1 year must be in a business or university (paid-position) laboratory setting (references required).
o Note: Regardless of the college degree major, candidates with highly relevant work experience totaling at least 4 years will also be considered.
• Experience with microbiological techniques, including plating, serial dilutions, and enumeration
• Experience with culture maintenance and storage
• Hands-on experience with microbial challenge studies
• Ability to work safely, effectively and harmoniously with others in a dynamic and changing R&D work environment.
• Effective time management and ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a dynamic R&D community environment.
• Good verbal and written communications skills.
• Proficiency in data recording
• Ability to flawlessly execute bench-work, and plan for studies
• Ability to work in a biosafety level 2 (BSL-2) lab following safety protocols
• Capable of learning and applying various new and modified techniques of analysis and applied research
Preferred Skills (nice to have):
• Experienced in using common Microsoft tools to perform mathematical calculations and to create and edit graphs and tables.
• Proactive in bringing new ideas to the team or the organization (innovating) to improve the work environment, the efficiency of lab work processes, and lab safety practices.
Physical Requirements:
Able to work on one's feet for approx. 6 hours per day, in a laboratory environment
