Position Summary

Cleaver Brooks is looking for a R&D Technician to join our team in Milwaukee, WI. The R & D Technician (Heat Pump) performs a variety of relatively complex technical assignments to assist and expedite the development of products, components, and processes. A majority of the work will involve testing and evaluation of heat pumps. The ideal candidate will have background and experience with the installation, maintenance, and evaluation of refrigeration, air-conditioning, and/or heat pump systems.

Job Location: Milwaukee, WI
Essential functions:
* Build, test and develop new products at the Product Development facility. This includes building of prototype heat pump designs, installing instrumentation for prototype evaluation, and testing protype equipment, as specified by the engineering team.
* Collect data and maintain records on performance of heat pump products. This will include manual data collection and automated data collection via data acquisition systems.
* Must possess thorough and relevant product knowledge of HVAC&R products, as well as tools used for servicing refrigeration/AC equipment.
* Position requires regular exercise of problem-solving skills.
* Participates in and assists with the product build cycle by contributing to and evaluating new product designs.
* Assists with troubleshooting during product installation and evaluation of new heat pump equipment.
* Requires general knowledge of standard engineering principles and practices.
Basic Requirements:
Education:
* 2-3-year degree/certificate in technical field, preferably in HVAC&R.
* EPA 608 certified (or ability to obtain certification).
Experience:
* 3 years technician experience in a product development or research & development environment preferred.
* Experience installing, maintaining, and repairing refrigerant systems (AC, heat pumps, refrigeration, etc.).
* Experience brazing refrigerant piping and charging refrigerant into vapor-compression systems.
* Experience working in a test lab environment with hands on electrical, gas, and refrigerants testing.
* Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
* Self-motivated with a passion for technical innovation.
Physical Skill & Effort: Work requires the use of testing equipment in the MKE Product Development facility. In addition, must be proficient using Microsoft Word and Excel to document test results and write reports. Dexterity and heaving lifting is required both at the R&D facility and at job sites.
Working Conditions and Hazards: Occasional exposure to moderately disagreeable features that are typical for a R&D facility.

Job Purpose
The Chemist/Specialist II owns the execution of defined pieces of a project or Lab Work Request assigned to the Aerospace solution laboratory under the supervision of a project leader or manager. A Chemist II anticipates or suggests work required or follow-up experiments to achieve an objective.

Job Requirements
Academic education level (BS, MS or higher) in Chemistry, Material Science, Chemical Engineering - or comparable experience/working level.

Research And Development Technician Job 32 miles from Waukesha
This position requires a self-driven, well organized, experienced Food Scientist who can exercise decision making skills and time management. This position supports the company's production facility with the responsibilities that are included below.
Primary Responsibilities:
Work with cross functional teams in the development of new high complexity product formulations and/or reformulations of existing products, including commercialization.
Manage a portfolio of assigned high-level product development projects through the various stages of the product development life cycle.
Duplicate competitive seasonings for flavor, texture, color, nutritional content, and adherence to FDA and USDA standards and regulations.
Facilitate product development by working with suppliers as well as marketing, quality and production.
Utilizes knowledge of current regulations, product formulation, supplier specifications, customer requirements and Company standards to develop and update finished product ingredient statements and nutritional documents as defined by FDA and USDA, in addition to product specifications and processing procedures.
Independently initiates, investigates, and implements significant new process improvements, and cost savings projects.
Working with sourcing, assess raw material substitutions for usage and formulation consistency
Coordinate with the Quality Department to comply with HACCP and all Food Safety Programs
Support operations through project handoff and during production with formulation issues
Stay up-to-date on new regulations and current events regarding food science by reviewing FDA and USDA regulations.
Provide guidance to other Food Scientist(s)
Comply with GMP, personal hygiene, HACCP and other quality and employee safety programs

Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's in Food Science/ Biology/ Chemistry or related field with relevant 5+ years' work experience in seasonings, spices, sauces, processed foods, sausage or meat snacks industry preferred

Demonstrated experience in high-level product development and formulation from concept to completion
